Galaxy S22 users will have to wait longer for One UI 8
Last week, Samsung started rolling out the final Android update for the Galaxy S22 series with One UI 8 based on Android 16. It was available to users in Europe and India, and brought stability improvements, refreshed apps, and the latest security patch. However, it seems like the company has hit a snag and the rollout has been halted, as noted by a user on X.
The post by @Koram_Akhilesh shows that the latest One UI 8 build is no longer available for the Galaxy S22 series. This suggests that Samsung discovered some bug or some instability issue that led to pulling back the update. The company has not shared any information on the same, though there have been some complaints from users about rapid battery drain after the update, but nothing too concerning.
It's not uncommon for companies to pull updates shortly after release and they usually start rolling again soon. Hopefully Samsung will do the same for Galaxy S22 series users, if not share an update on what the status is. If you missed out on upgrading initially, that may have been a good thing and rollout should start again soon. Those who did upgrade should be good to use their phone’s normally, without having to revert to the previous version.
As for the update itself, One UI 8 brings the essential improvements for Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra users. However, it doesn’t include some of the AI-based features like ‘Now Brief.’ It does bring updates to multitasking, reminders, the camera app, notifications, and more.
