Samsung has officially introduced the Galaxy F17, a direct successor to Galaxy F16, which debuted earlier this year. Samsung’s new budget-range smartphone brings very similar features and specifications to the Galaxy A17. Not just features, even the design of the device is almost similar.
Let’s start with the display. The Samsung Galaxy F17 5G comes with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display that delivers FHD+ resolution with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. The front of the device is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus to protect the device against accidental falls and scratches. On the rear side, there’s a pill-shaped camera module and the rings somewhat match Samsung’s latest generation Galaxy Z Fold 6 (curr. available at $919.95 on Amazon).
While the device retains the same camera specs as its predecessor, it has a 50 MP OIS-enabled primary camera complemented by a 5 MP ultrawide shooter and a 2 MP macro sensor. The front camera is also the same; you’ll find a 13 MP shooter on the front for selfies and video chats. It runs Android 15-based One UI 7 out of the box, and Samsung promises 6 major Android OS updates (Android 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21) and 6 years of security patches until 2031.
Speaking of powered things, the 5G-enabled device is equipped with Samsung’s in-house Exynos 1330 processor, which is the same chipset found on the last-generation model. It packs up to 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, and users can expand the storage up to 2 TB via a micro-SD card. The battery capacity of the device is also the same as the last-generation model, featuring a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 25 W wired charging. The rest of the highlights of the F17 include a single speaker, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, an IP54 rating for dust and water splash resistance, GPS, WiFi 5, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity support.
The Samsung Galaxy F17 5G starts at INR 14,999 ($163) for the base 4 GB + 128 GB model option, while the 6 GB + 128 GB model is priced at INR 15,999 ($180). The device is now available via Samsung’s official website, Flipkart, and other authorized retailers in India. It comes in neo black and violet pop color options.
