Tencent Games has asserted that it has drawn level with Epic Games' Fortnite in terms of mobile user numbers for its own game, PUBG. This means that PUBG has made it to about 200 million users. It is estimated that both games also have the same approximate number of users who play at least once a day (30 million).

Tencent Games has announced that its game, Player Unknown: Battlegrounds Mobile (or PUBG Mobile) has accumulated as many players as Epic Games' Fortnite for mobile. This puts PUBG's user count at around 200 million. This news was part of a release recently shared with The Verge. Tencent also claims that PUBG has 30 million users who are active on a daily basis, which, again, is the same number as those of Fortnite's.

However, PUBG's new tally reportedly does not include Chinese users; if this is true, that means this game is now more popular worldwide than Fortnite. The Tencent game was also recently unveiled as the Play Store Game of the Year for 2018 by Google. Obviously, Fortnite is not eligible for this title, as it has its own download route apart from the Android-embedded platform.

Furthermore, as PUBG is also available on PC, Xbox and Playstation, it is safe to say it is a distinctly competitive title, even against Fortnite. On the other hand, the new Epic Games Store looks set to stand up to the Play Store itself, even with a handful of titles. Nevertheless, it is shaping up to be a very happy holiday season for Tencent.
