A YouTube video released by Xbox to coincide with Gamescom 2018 has officially announced the finalization of a PUBG version for their One console. This development, which has been anticipated for some time, will see a general release in September 2018.
The release will include some things that were heretofore only available to those who play the PC version of the game. They include War Mode, which is similar to a team-based Battle Royale but with respawning. The release will also unlock the Sanhok map for Xbox One users. However, it is not clear if the map will be available as a full feature or will just be there for testing.
The Xbox One version of the game is also reported to introduce a virtual currency for PUBG. It appears that this currency is intended for the purchase of cosmetic character upgrades. On that note, there will also be an Event Pass for Sanhok on Xbox One, which also includes some Event-themed cosmetics.
PUBG Corp. also announced that the September 4 release (PUBG 1.0 for Xbox One) is not the last word on updates for the Xbox port. Its developers mentioned that they would “continue to enhance the game and deliver new content to Xbox players.”
