Microsoft Studios announces release date for Crackdown 3
Crackdown 3 has finally been given an official release date by Microsoft Studios: February 15, 2019. It has been a very long wait for fans of the series; the original Crackdown was released in 2007 and the sequel saw the light of day in July 2010. That will make it a nearly nine-year gap between episodes. Crackdown 3 was actually announced back in 2014 but suffered from delay after delay.
The action game has been developed by Sumo Digital, a British game studio that was also responsible for work on titles such as Disney Infinity 3.0 (as part of a development group), Forza Horizon 3, and the “Colorado” episode of Hitman (2016). Trailers for the new addition to the Crackdown franchise show the kind of wild mayhem and mindless destruction that players can expect from the title.
Crackdown 3 will be part of Microsoft’s Xbox Play Anywhere scheme and utilizes cloud-computing features that had been created by Cloudgine, which according to the company can process game data (keywords: destruction and explosions) much faster than the Xbox console can. Basically, it helps create a more immersive surrounding for the gamer, as they push their super-powered Agent through the dangerous streets of New Providence.
The game is currently available for pre-order, for US$59.99.
