Microsoft Surface Pro Series

Microsoft Surface Pro 7

Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) is the fifth generation in the Surface Pro family. The Surface Pro is solid as a rock and exudes a sense of futuristic quality. It’s also well-designed, with a look and feels that, while minimally changed from the Surface Pro 4, is still an improvement. The corners are more rounded, and the exhaust vents along the edges are less pronounced.  There aren’t many moving parts in the Surface Pro itself. The power and volume buttons along the top are easy to find by feel, and have a crisp action, while the kickstand is smooth and reliably holds the tablet at chosen angle. It now opens up to 165 degrees, an increase from the Surface Pro 4, which opened 150 degrees. Fully flexed, the kickstand can turn Surface Pro into a nearly-flat slate. If a user decides to flip into tablet mode for a moment and fold back the Type Cover, the keyboard will turn off when the cover is tucked back. It can even switch Windows 10 into tablet mode if desired. It attaches to the tablet with strong magnets and connects via a physical port, meaning there’s zero lag when typing. The Surface Pro sports two front-firing speakers on each side of the display. There are small cutouts in the glass to let the sound through, and the design provides impressive sound for a tablet. Music is great, with surprising range, and there’s even a hint of bass. The speakers also get surprisingly loud and can fill a decent sized room without distorting.

The Surface Pro features up to a seventh-generation Intel Core i7, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. It is seen that the Surface Pro offers a cutting-edge CPU, solid RAM and SSD options, and full support for all of Microsoft’s most innovative Windows 10 technologies. All that will keep the machine relevant for years to come. The Surface Pro is refreshingly light on bloatware. While it’s stocked with the usual Microsoft Windows 10 apps and a handful of casual games, it’s otherwise unencumbered with junk software. The Surface utility is also a nice app that offers the ability to configure the Surface Pen and get some useful information about your machine. Microsoft is using a 45-watt-hour battery in the Surface Pro, which is an increase from the 38 watt-hour battery that was packed into the Surface Pro 4. The Surface Pro also uses more efficient seventh-generation Intel Core processors. Taken together, the new model offers improved battery life over its predecessor. The Surface Pro is eminently portable, at 0.33 inches thick and 1.73 pounds. Even with the Signature Type Cover attached, the machine is easy to carry around and slip into a bag. It might not be quite as thin and light as the iPad Pro, but it’s also a much more powerful machine that can run real PC applications. The Surface Pro bring a whole new meaning to the word tablet. It is a iPad like device but is actually a real computer.

80% One Tablet to Rule Them All: The Microsoft Surface Pro 2017 Review
Source: Make Use Of English
Which brings us to an interesting argument against buying it. Given the closeness to its predecessor, it might be more cost effective to buy last year’s model. There simply isn’t enough new with this model to justify the $1000-$3000 price tag. The Surface Studio mode is certainly an advantage, but will appeal purely to artists. Of course, the lack of a Surface Pen with this model might equally discourage the digital artists among you.

Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) Review Roundup: Not Bad, Still Expensive
Source: Extreme Tech English
Ultimately, that’s the conclusion most reviewers have come to. If you have an older first or second-generation Surface Pro or haven’t owned one at all, the Surface Pro can make a great option, provided you understand some of the tradeoffs inherent to the system. But if you’re still rocking a Surface Pro 4 (or maybe even 3), the battery life gains are going to be your only major reason to upgrade, assuming you aren’t an artist in need of Surface Pen.

It's just called the Microsoft Surface Pro now, but the 2017 iteration continues to be the 2-in-1 detachable-hybrid tablet that other PC makers will strive to emulate. A processor bump, longer battery life, and new peripherals are the big improvements.

Olden but golden. Without a USB Type-C or Thunderbolt 3, the 2017 model of Microsoft's Surface Pro seems kind of dowdy. The fanless operation we have already seen in Acer's Alpha 12, and unfortunately the device throttles noticeably. Is the only benefit left really its decent battery life?

The Microsoft Surface Pro is an innovative and flexible device that's great for doodling and jotting down notes all day long while looking up half a dozen reference pages on a browser and blasting music on the side. Living with one poses some challenges because it's still very much a tablet first and a laptop second, in terms of design and performance. You'll have to shell out a hefty amount on accessories to make this tablet a laptop and an electronic scribble pad at the same time.

The New Surface Pro certainly is a natural progression from the Surface Pro 4, rather than a massive leap forward. The seventh-gen Kaby Lake processors and extra battery life are well worthwhile, but to be expected. The additional flexibility of the kickstand is fairly slight, albeit not unwelcome. Hopefully the new Type Covers and Surface Pen will similarly offer some improvements.

Close, but not quite close enough. We were happy to learn that the Iris graphics card is awake and alert despite SoC-throttling. The Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) cannot be considered a "gamer" however, nor is it a full laptop replacement: Just like in the i5 version, there is significant throttling.
100% Microsoft Surface Pro review: Still worth buying?

Microsoft's Surface family is usually best-of-breed, but the Surface Pro is spectacular even by Microsoft's lofty standards. Raw speed, a gorgeous screen and one of the best keyboards in the business - Microsoft has packed it all into one slim, sexy package. The Surface Pro is, hands down, the best business hybrid out there.

Microsoft Surface Pro (2017): Everything you need to know
Source: PC World English
The Surface Pro (2017) is a Surface Pro, plain and simple: tablet, magnetically-attached Type Cover keyboard, kickstand. If you were to put a Surface Pro next to a Surface Pro 4, about the only way to tell the difference would be to look at the attached Surface Pen, which lacks the clip of its predecessor.

Microsoft Surface Book Review: Is It Good for Business?

The Surface Book can adapt to almost any workflow, thanks to its versatile design and powerful performance. And with its dedicated GPU in tow, the machine is powerful enough to handle even the most demanding tasks, offering the kind of graphical punch that even Apple's 13-inch MacBook Pro can't match.

Ultimately, while the Microsoft Surface Pro is a welcome hybrid device which may no doubt feel like a step up for many people looking to be more creative, I find that I can’t really recommend it for professional artists drawing and painting by hand. We expect, and need to have full control over the marks we make, and don’t have time to wait to see whether we can work with what we’ve actually drawn.

We weren’t thrilled with the high temps and throttling of our test model’s Core i7 CPU (which is apparently still a little too much chip for a thin tablet form factor), and we’re hoping the problem doesn’t extend to the Core i5 units, but since the latter ditches the fans altogether, we’re expecting they don’t. We’ve requested a Core i5 review unit, so hopefully we’ll be able to confirm that in an upcoming issue. All things considered, the Surface Pro is an exceptionally powerful device in a uniquely versatile and compact form factor. If you don’t want or need the touchscreen, you can likely find better value in a laptop, but if you’re after a terrifically ultraportable Windows device with a stylus, then there’s still no better alternative to the Surface Pro.

The new Surface Pro is a superb 2-in-1. It’s beautifully built and performs well. The screen is excellent and even the speakers sound good. However, it’s very expensive, especially when you add the cost of the Type Cover and – if you need one – the Surface Pen. Few will opt for the base model, and you’ll pay a heck of a lot more for a Core i7. Ultimately, while a fantastic device, it’s hard to recommend the Surface Pro unless money is no object.

The iterative nature of the 2017 Surface Pro doesn't detract from the fact that this is an excellent 2-in-1 and a worthy update on 2015's Surface Pro 4. For users that’ve never worked with a Surface device of any sort – I highly recommend taking one for a whirl at a local computer store. I do not recommend buying a Surface Tablet without first seeing how it feels to use in person. It’s a unique device, to be sure, and just like any device that costs hundreds of dollars and presents a new use case scenario, this warrants a trip to the Microsoft Store.

Of all the surprises that the Surface Pro (2017) offered, one of the most interesting was in battery life. However, I think Microsoft is still playing it a bit too safe in a few areas. While improved, the Surface Pro's battery life still lags behind those of other ultraportable laptops, and the lack of a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port are strange omissions for a premium flagship device. And after three years in which the Surface Pro has had essentially the same aesthetics, I find myself wanting a bit more excitement out of this machine's design. But if you want the best detachable out there, the Surface Pro is still the one to get.

Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) review: More power for more money
Source: Good Gear Guide English
It’s possible that Microsoft may simply offer incremental improvements to its tablets going forward. That’s left a window of opportunity to the competition. I endorsed Microsoft’s leap into the Surface Pro 3, and still believe that the Surface Pro 4 represents Microsoft’s best Windows tablet. At the time, however, I wondered whether the others would catch up. They have. I still recommend the new Surface Pro (2017), but I’d also encourage you to check out the competition.

The Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) Review: Evolution
Source: AnandTech English
The Surface Pro lineup has always been one of the most powerful tablet class devices around. Microsoft is no longer marketing it as a tablet that can replace your laptop anymore though, and they’ve acknowledged that most of the customers who buy and use the Surface Pro are looking for an ultraportable laptop. That makes a lot of sense, since the Surface Pro weighs only 786 grams / 1.73 lbs for the Core i5 and i7 models, and the Signature Type Cover only adds another 310 grams / 0.68 lbs. As a complete package, it’s only 1.096 Kg / 2.41 lbs. It’s not the lightest device around, but it’s still very light and easy transport.

Even in 2017, there are just far too few compelling apps that take advantage of the Surface Pro's versatility. It used to be that you couldn't do much about that if you wanted a Surface device. Microsoft's new Surface Pro is a powerful machine with a slight drawback
Source: Yahoo English
This time around, the Surface team improved the device’s display to work better with the new Surface Pen stylus. According to Microsoft, the Pen is more sensitive than its predecessor and suffers from less latency. The company says it cut down the response time for the Pen to 21 milliseconds. Microsoft also added a tilt feature to the Pen so you can create wide strokes with the stylus when you tilt it.

Microsoft Surface Pro (2018) review: A capable workhorse with major improvements, but justifying the cost is still tricky
Source: Tech2 English
If you are on a strict budget, but want to invest in a Surface Pro, then you can get your hands on the Core m3 processor sporting variant which is priced at Rs 64,999 or a Core i5 processor with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant priced at Rs 79,999. Of course, both of these variants will have lower performance numbers. If you want to go all out on the Surface Pro, then the Core i7 variant with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD is priced at Rs 1,82,999.

All things considered, busy professionals and workaholics will appreciate the sheer convenience of a consistently connected Surface Pro, making the $150 price premium and additional costs worth it, provided they have a the money to spare. If you're the typical small business user, the stock Surface Pro will do the trick, especially if you can use your phone as a hot spot without incurring additional charges.

Microsoft Surface Pro LTE (2018) Review Roundup: Flexible, Expensive
Source: Extreme Tech English
The white elephant in the room, at least as far as the Surface Pro 2017 is concerned, is the advent of Intel’s Coffee Lake CPU family and the expected launch of new desktop and mobile SKUs in the very near future. Microsoft has historically refreshed the Surface Pro family every 12-20 months, which means there could be a new Surface Pro launching later this year. With Coffee Lake expected to succeed Kaby Lake in mobile devices, it’s hard to see how MS could avoid the need for new SKUs, unless it intends to keep selling 2C/4T products against 4C/4T or 4C/8T devices from its competitors.

Microsoft has updated to the Surface Pro series with quad-core Kaby Lake Refresh processors, but how well will these chips cope within an 8.5-mm thick tablet? Will these more powerful processors affect the battery life, and has Microsoft finally added more ports? Find out all this and more in our detailed review.
80% Microsoft Surface Pro 6 review
Source: Tech Advisor English
The Surface Pro 6 is a familiar refresh, with few changes of note besides an upgrade to Intel's 8th generation processor. This certainly provides a good performance boost, making the cheaper models a more viable choice. It’s a shame there are still no bundle deals for the Type Cover as a keyboard is really an essential accessory for virtually everyone who buys a Surface Pro. But while this is effectively more of the same, the Surface Pro 6 remains an excellent choice if this is the type of PC you want. Most rivals can’t compete with its battery life, but it’s possible to get longer from some 2-in-1 laptops.

Microsoft has led the way in this laptop and tablet hybrid design, but it now risks competitors catching up. Apple is still selling the same MacBook Air design, years after most PC makers have caught up and surpassed a laptop design that changed the industry 10 years ago. The Surface Pro 6 might look a little familiar and lack modern ports, but it’s still the portable laptop and tablet hybrid to beat. For now.

Microsoft Surface Pro 6, Core i5, 128 GB

The Microsoft Surface Pro 6 is a 2-in-1 laptop with the latest 8th Gen Intel Core processor. From office to home, airport to open road, a user can certainly power their life on the Surface Pro 6. Users can unplug, pack light, and get productive all day with the Surface Pro 6. The Surface Pro 6 can be adjusted to three modes, which are laptop mode, studio mode and tablet mode. It has a quality-feeling magnesium body with slightly rounded edges for hand-held comfort. Users can adjust to the modes with the innovative, built-in Kickstand and Type Cover. Microsoft went for matte over glossy for the finish, so fingerprints are minimized on the device. Starting at just 711 g (1.7 lb), a user can work virtually anywhere with the Surface Pro 6, an ultra-light and portable touchscreen laptop with the creative versatility of touch and pen. The device measures at 11.5” x 7.9” x 0.33” (292 mm x 201 mm x 8.5 mm). As for the display, the Surface Pro 6 comes with a 12.3” PixelSense display with 2,736 x 1,824 (267 PPI) resolution, 3:2 aspect ratio, and 10 point multi-touch. It is slightly improved from the predecessor. The Surface Pro 6's display now has a stronger contrast ratio of 1,500:1 compared to the previous model’s 1,300:1 figure. The display is nice and bright with plenty of color vibrancy, especially in the ‘enhanced' display mode. The Surface Pro 6 starts with a Core i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of storage. It can go up to a Core i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and 512 GB of storage. There's no discrete GPU and again no USB-C connection which means no access to external graphics cards. The Surface Pro 6 has 13.5 hours of battery life on local video playback. The battery life will be enough for a day of work, or to play Netflix videos and some games. Like most Surface Pro devices, a user won’t be playing high-end games on this due to the built-in Intel graphics. For connectivity, it comes with a USB 3.0 port, 3.5 mm Headphone jack, microSDXC card reader, a mini DisplayPort, a Surface Type Cover port and a Surface Connect port. There’s no USB-C here, and no ThunderBolt 3 support. That means users can’t charge their phone with the same charger as the Surface Pro 6. As a conclusion, the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 has slight improvement compared to its predecessor. It is a minor refresh of the Surface Pro series which is lightweight and convenient, especially for users who work on the go. Hands-on article by Jagadisa Rajarathnam

Regrettably, the Surface Pro 6 carries on the repair, or un-repairability tradition scoring 1-out-of-10. While that is not good, it is due to copious amounts of hot melt glue and almost everything inside being surface mounted. While batteries are replaceable, the path to get there is fraught with danger.

Microsoft’s Surface Pro 6 is faster, longer lasting and now comes in a sleek, new black shell but … that’s about it. This is no doubt a better product than last year, but it might not be the generational leap some were hoping for. If you already own a Surface Pro 2017, this upgrade isn’t worth the cost. Otherwise, it’s the best Windows tablet money can buy.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 6 Review: More Than A Color
Source: AnandTech English
Microsoft’s Surface lineup has always been about a premium device, and to showcase their software, and the Surface Pro 6 delivers on that front. Despite the somewhat questionable update cadence, and even the lack of USB-C, the changes that are here are all very welcome. No one is going to complain about more color options, and the improvements to performance and especially battery life are a boon to all Surface Pro users. These changes bring it to a level that Surface Pro has never been to before. Microsoft is being safe with the Surface Pro, but it was already the class leader, so it’s hard to fault them on that. The Surface Pro 6 is a much bigger update than just a new color.

Microsoft Surface Pro X

The Microsoft Surface Pro X is ultra-thin and always connected, combining blazing-fast LTE with 2-in-1 versatility and an edge-to-edge, ultra-slim 13” touchscreen. The Surface Pro X is ultra-portable with a thinness of 7.3 mm (287 mm x 208 mm x 7.3 mm) and a weight of just 1.7 pounds (774 g). The portability is ideal for working and connecting without an office, for browsing, sketching on-screen, and streaming Netflix. The casing is made of Microsoft’s signature anodized aluminium with carbon composite fan-less thermal cooling; it comes in Matte Black. The material makes it smooth to the touch and looks sleek. As for the display, users can see and do more on the virtually edge-to-edge PixelSense 13” touchscreen with the signature 3:2 aspect ratio to give the most workspace possible. It features a screen resolution of 2880 x 1920 pixels (267 PPI), 10-point multi-touch and extremely bright 450 nits. Aside from that, users can get back to work faster with Instant On and wake on open.

Under the hood, the Surface Pro X is powered by Qualcomm – the new custom Microsoft SQ1 processor delivers multitasking laptop performance. The SQ1 processor is the first 3GHz ARM processor on PC² with 2 Teraflops of best-in-class graphics processing power. It supports full-speed SSDs for high performance and optimized capability from the laptop’s hard drive. Users can choose between 8 GB or 16 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and removable solid-state drive (SSD) options of 128, 256 or 512 GB. As for the camera, which is needed for Skype, the device features a 5.0MP front-facing camera with 1080p video and a 10.0MP rear-facing autofocus camera with 1080p and 4k video. The Dual far-field Studio Mics and 2W stereo speakers with Dolby Audio ensure that the audio sounds crisp and clear. Featuring blazing-fast LTE connectivity, the thinnest Surface stands out in terms of connectivity with two USB-C® ports. Aside from that, it also comes with a Surface Keyboard connector port and a Nano-SIM slot. As for security features, it has a Firmware Trusted Platform Module and enterprise-grade protection with Windows Hello face sign-in. In conclusion, the Microsoft Surface Pro X is an extremely portable and powerful device to work on the go. Whether on the road, in the air, or at their favourite café, users can create at the speed of thought with the Surface Pro X.

Microsoft Surface Pro X review: A costly Windows 10 device from the future
Source: Business Standard English
The Microsoft Surface Pro X is an expensive tablet which seems to do what Apple did with its iPad Pro 2020 – add keyboard with touchpad support. It works flawlessly and delivers on most basic tasks you expect your Windows-based machine to do. But its expensive price tag (around Rs 1 lakh) makes it best suitable for enthusiasts wanting to experience the Windows future on the ARM processor, not the masses.

80% Microsoft Surface Pro X review: A cutting-edge compromise
Source: It Pro English
The Surface Pro X seemed at first like a slightly mad prospect; a Windows device that could only run certain apps felt far too close to the bad old days of Windows RT, and the spectre of compatibility issues looms large. However, this isn’t nearly as much of a problem in reality as we anticipated. Sure, there are some apps which aren’t available at all but, barring a few intermittent stability hiccups, our experience was untroubled by performance woes.

The Surface Pro X is a Windows 2-in-1 that's difficult to get your head around. So long as you're comfortable with its limitations, the only real sticking point is the price as you're going to need the keyboard and Surface Slim Pen as well as the tablet itself. But for many people, there's better value and fewer compatibility issues to be found elsewhere.

But as I said up top, the Surface Pro X’s success isn’t judged by traditional measures. I won’t recommend a $1,700 2-in-1 with limited compatibility to most people I know, but I can get behind a bold vision for a new Surface and an ARM-based future.

Surface Pro X review
Source: Fudzilla English
The overall performance of Surface X Pro is impressive, and a giant leap forward for the “always connected PC” and Qualcomm’s PC efforts. While there is more to be done, especially on the software front, Microsoft priced this Surface at the higher end of the spectrum. Once you spend the time with the machine, you can understand why they went for such pricing. The part that I find difficult to understand is why the storage option costs an ARM and leg, pardon the pun. Storage is not that expensive these days, yet Microsoft wants Apple margins for 256GB or, god forbid, 512GB of storage.

With the Surface Pro X, Microsoft has created a forward-thinking device that’s ahead of its time – but this isn't a good thing. While the Microsoft SQ1 ARM processor enables slightly improved battery life and facilitates the slimmer design, the device is hamstrung by consequential performance and compatibility issues. The Surface Pro X may well be what the future looks like for Surface devices and 2-in-1s across the board, but we're some way off right now.

60% Microsoft Surface Pro X review: This isn't the long-lasting tablet we were hoping for
Source: PC World English
The question that I hope Microsoft is asking itself is: What compelling reason has it given for customers to buy the Surface Pro X? Always-on connectivity? It’s not a unique argument, and one that Intel itself is gunning for. We haven’t tested Microsoft’s Surface Pro 7, but we’d assume that that’s its best tablet, not the Surface Pro X. With this tablet, we can’t see why Microsoft would use the term “Pro” at all.

Microsoft Surface Pro X review: This isn't the long-lasting tablet we were hoping for
Source: Good Gear Guide English
After years of cookie-cutter upgrades, the Surface Pro X delivers a well-thought-out physical redesign. Again, however—and this is getting tiring by now—app compatibility, performance issues and bugs complicate Microsoft’s effort. Calling it an “Edgebook” isn’t quite right, because the Surface Pro X runs Office and other Microsoft apps well. But it still feels somewhat short of an actual PC.

While we applaud the Surface Pro X for its slick and refined, thin and light design, and comfy typing experience, the Surface Pro X is difficult to recommend for most people. I'll start with the good. The Surface Pro X nails three of the four main tenets of any good laptop: it has a gorgeous display; a premium, portable design; and long battery life. The fourth, performance, is a problem. ARM might be the future of computing but Microsoft jumped the gun with the SQ1, which offers middling performance on top of app-compatibility issues.

Fair enough, but asking people to pay $1,140 (including the keyboard case) for something that might not run all the apps they need is outrageous. Especially since Chromebooks are just as good at handling browser-based applications and generally cost $500 or less. If you're in the sliver of the population that needs access to a small handful of Windows apps, then maybe the Pro X is sufficient. But bear in mind you'll be paying a hefty premium for Windows, an LTE connection and gorgeous hardware.

You should never buy a gadget today based on the hope that the software will come tomorrow. That rule applies to the Surface Pro X more than usual because the investment is so large. For the near $1,800 you’d have to spend to get the Pro X model I reviewed, you would be able to buy a Surface Pro 7 kitted out with equivalent RAM, storage, keyboard, stylus, and an Intel Core i7 processor that would be loads faster and also be compatible with all Windows apps.

The Surface Pro X is an astoundingly impressive looking and feeling Windows tablet – possibly the best yet in that department. Still, while we understand Microsoft's faith in its new ARM processor, we've yet to see an ARM-based Windows device perform to expectations for the price it will cost you. Consider us impressed, though cautiously optimistic.

Overall, if the performance promised (3 x that of a Surface Pro 6) is actually delivered, then the Surface Pro X could be a pretty impressive evolution of the Surface Pro and renders the Surface Pro 7 a little redundant. If Microsoft needed a 'hero' device to showcase its Surface range then the Surface Pro X is it.

Microsoft Surface Pro X: Windows on Arm usable at long last – but, boy, are you gonna pay for it
Source: The Register English
The Surface Pro X is undeniably a pleasant bit of kit to use, but having used one side by side with the Surface Pro 7, we're not sure the premium demanded by the slimmer chassis, larger screen and Qualcomm-inspired tech is worthwhile compared to its stablemate, particularly if ever called on for more intensive work.

Surface Pro X review: hands-on with Microsoft's first true iPad Pro rival
Source: Digital Arts English
The Surface Pro X is thinner and lighter than the Pro 7, and has a high-end consumer/pro styling that’s distinctly different from the older design’s more corporate feel. It has a slightly larger screen with a thinner bezel (13-inch vs the 7’s 12.3-inch) with a slightly higher resolution (2,880 x 1,920 vs 2,736 x 1,824). Asleep and without the keyboard, you’d probably mistake it for the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro – unless you spot the Surface Pro X’s additional USB-C port.

Microsoft Surface Pro X hands-on: Perfecting the vision
Source: Hardware Zone English
There’s a lot to like about the new Surface Pro X over the conventional Surface Pro devices. In fact, its starting price of US$999 is only a little more than the asking price of the Surface Pro 7 that starts from US$749. Having said that, the Surface Pro X is ideal if you’re looking for the most modern Surface device ever, intend to stay away from a power socket for extended hours and appreciate the instant-on, ever-ready traits of the Surface Pro X. The new Signature Keyboard and Slim Pen sound like excellent options to complement the Surface Pro X, but beware those will add to the base cost of the product. For a higher level of computing power, the Surface Pro 7 will be the better choice with more varied configuration options.

Microsoft Surface Pro X hands-on: Perfecting the vision
Source: Hardware Zone English
Microsoft’s Surface hardware launch yesterday saw an impressive range of devices launched that caters to a variety of modern work needs – two of which are still in the showcase stage (Surface Neo and Surface Duo) as they are engineering showcases to get developers onboard to take advantage of the new dual-screen devices along with Windows 10X. Since those are still a year away before consumers can purchase one, without a doubt, the most controversial and arguably the sexiest device that you can get your hands on soon is the Surface Pro X.

If Microsoft can get developers to bring forth more tablet-friendly Windows apps, then the Surface Pro X really would make a decent stand-alone tablet thanks to its slim design, though to get the most out of it you really need to buy the keyboard as well. Overall, if the performance promised (3 x that of a Surface Pro 6) is actually delivered, then the Surface Pro X could be a pretty impressive evolution of the Surface Pro and renders the Surface Pro 7 a little redundant. The Surface Pro X is unlike any device we've seen from Microsoft before. It's sleek, study, and sports seriously thin bezels. It features the expected built-in stand and a custom SQ1 CPU designed in partnership with Qualcomm. Just be prepared to spend a lot once you add the keyboard and pen.

Microsoft Surface Pro X hands-on review: X marks the spot
Source: It Pro English
The Surface Pro X is a really interesting device, and proof that Microsoft isn't messing around when it comes to expanding its line of first-party hardware. Aside from looking like the kind of aesthetically and mechanically polished 2-in-1 that we've come to expect from Microsoft, it's also one of the first real outings for ARM-based Windows laptops. This means it's got a lot of proving to do, but it also makes it somewhat difficult to predict how it will perform under pressure.

Surface Pro X, 7 and Laptop 3 Hands-on: A hop, skip and a jump forward
Source: Mobile Syrup English
Ultimately, the Surface Laptop 3 offers important changes to the Surface Laptop formula, but Microsoft isn’t breaking new ground here. If you have an ageing device and you’re looking to upgrade, the Surface Laptop 3, as well as the Pro 7, is more than capable. However, Laptop 2 and Pro 6 owners likely won’t need to upgrade this year.

Source: Hardware Zone English
However, if you are not set on a detachable notebook, it would be foolish not to at least check out convertible notebooks like the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 and HP Spectre x360. Granted, their tablet modes are compromised, but their built-in keyboards offer a better typing experience. If you type a lot, this is something to bear in mind. Moreover, the current crop of convertible notebooks is much more comfortable to be used as tablets, because they have never been this compact or light.

The Surface Pro design retains some advantages. For many, the inclusion of a USB-C and an older USB Type-A port represents an ideal compromise, even if we'd have preferred Thunderbolt. Microsoft’s Surface Pro 7, the latest in the company’s excellent Surface Pro series, continues the tradition of being a durable, dependable tablet for the ages. It’s measurably better this time around, too, with an internal upgrade to Intel’s 10th-gen, 10nm Ice Lake chip and a nod to the future, a USB-C port. There are many good reasons why the Surface Pro 7 won our Editor’s Choice award, as you’ll see in our review.

90% Microsoft Surface Pro 7 review: the perfect tablet for Illustrators
Source: Digital Arts English
There are circumstances where the near-unique nature of the Surface Pro 7 means that it really is the best creative device on the market. If you’re a creative director running between client meetings and need a combination of a digital Moleskine and a way to keep your admin and email under control. If you want the thinnest, lightest device you can run the full version of Photoshop or Illustrator or XD on, it’s a no-brainer. Artists looking for the best drawing and painting experience are still better off with an iPad Pro and Procreate – but if you need to create vector art as well, then Illustrator on the Surface Pro covers both bases much better (sorry Affinity Publisher).

Overall, this is an expected upgrade but one Surface Laptop fans will appreciate. One of the best Windows 10 alternatives to the MacBook Air and Pro 13, though the likes of the Dell XPS 13 also do a good job at filling that spot. The Surface Laptop 3 15 is a proper MacBook Pro rival and a top addition to the Surface family; a few more ports and an SD card reader would have been ideal though, mind you, not in keeping with the clean aesthetic Microsft is going for.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 Hands-on Review
Source: Tom's Guide English
The Surface Pro 7 isn't the most exciting upgrade, but if the Surface Pro X's $999 starting price is too steep, this 2-in-1 should satisfy at $799. You get faster performance, dual far-field mics and a USB-C port in the same overall package. I just wish Microsoft trimmed the bezels and offered the same pen garage as the Surface Pro X's keyboard.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 hands-on review: The best 2-in-1 ever?
Source: It Pro English
In many ways, the Surface Pro 7 feels like an indication that Microsoft has reached the limits of what it can do with the traditional Surface Pro design. While Intel's 10th-gen processors could offer a substantial performance boost, outside of the internal hardware, the iterative changes are getting smaller and less impactful with each successive generation. With the introduction of USB-C, Microsoft has fixed the Surface Pro's only real flaw, which begs the question - where is there to go?

Frankly, the new Surface Pro 7 has us scratching our heads. For all intents and purposes, this is a spec update to the preceding Surface Pro 6. We will definitely see a sizeable boost in performance but battery life seems to take a massive hit as well, with little to no explanation. It charges much faster, but how much good is that when the device’s lasting power has dropped 30%? The Surface Pro 7 is a baffling upgrade to the existing model. It has virtually zero tangible design changes short of a new port, while performance takes a weird turn that's arguably for the worst. We'll save our full judgments for a full review, of course. The Microsoft Surface Pro 7 feels more like a Surface Pro 6.5 than an actual new product. The only significant changes are the addition of a USB-C input and a move to Intel’s newer 10th-gen family of laptop CPUs. However, it remains a solid convertible and great choice for those looking for a flexible machine that works equally well as an office laptop as it does as a personal tablet.

We expected a bit more in advancements from the seventh Surface Pro tablet. USB-C is nice, but for a device at this price, its should be Thunderbolt 3. Plus, the display bezels are awfully thick for a tablet in 2019. The Surface Pro 7 isn’t big enough of a leap over the Pro 6 for us to recommend it to either upgraders or folks just getting into Microsoft’s tablet.

The Surface Pro 7 delivers big on performance and display quality, complete with a responsive screen for note-taking and drawing and a convertible design that really shines with the excellent Type Cover keyboard. The introduction of USB-C is a much-needed change, and the Pro 7's design remains as travel-friendly as ever.

Microsoft's convertible remains the best option on the market for those who want the portability of a tablet combined with the convenience of a laptop. But the Surface Pro 7 does little to move the needle. The few new things it brings to the table -- USB-C and 10th Gen processors -- are certainly welcome but not enough to make the Surface Pro 7 a required upgrade if you already own the Surface Pro 6.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7

Microsoft has to be applauded for its bold move of releasing two Surface Pro tablets together, namely the Pro X and Pro 7. However, it should be noted that the two serve different markets altogether. While the Pro X is a higher-priced, sleeker professional tablet, the Pro 7 is a more affordable version of the Surface Pro variants, bearing some similarities with its earlier releases.

The Surface Pro models are known for their halfway-house combination between a tablet and laptop. The 2-in-1 criterion had always set these models apart from other Microsoft products. The Surface Pro 7 certainly propels the legacy forward. Despite sharing the same screen size of 12.3 inches, which is similar to its predecessor, the Pro 6, the Pro 7 does have more to offer. One of the notable differences would be the added feature of the Surface Pen, which can be directly used to write on Microsoft Office applications using the built-in hand-writing recognition function. The Surface Pro 7 also has much better far-field microphones for an improved user experience. While the Surface Pro 6 was powered by Intel’s 8th-gen processors, the Pro 7 was introduced with Intel’s new Ice-Lake 10th-gen chips. In comparison to the Pro 6, the newer processor of the Pro 7 offers a 20% performance improvement. It is definitely more competent in various areas, which includes but is not to limited to 3D rendering, video encoding and crunching equations. This will improve the overall general performance as compared to older processors. On top of that, it also comes equipped with Intel’s new Iris Plus integrated graphics. The new Iris Plus graphics make gaming in 1080p viable, though not at ultra-settings. However, it should be noted that this is not included with the Pro 7 version with the i3 processor. The Pro 7 model with an i3 processor and 4 GB of RAM may be a variant of the Pro 7 model, but it is probably only recommendable for users who run lighter applications.

The Surface Pro 7 comes with a MicroSDXC slot replacing the Surface Pro 6’s MicroSD slot. This simply means that the Pro 7 can accommodate higher-capacity SD cards, because MicroSD cards will work on MicroSDXC slots, but the reverse is not possible. Even though the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 does prove to have some notable differences from its Pro 6 variant, the similarities are quite obvious, too. For nearly three generations of Surface Pros, including the 5, 6 and 7, the box of the keyboard has been the same with no changes. Some also claim the Pro 7 has an undeniable similarity with its sibling, the Surface Pro 4. The Surface Pro 7 might not be able to fulfil the generational leap that was missing in the Pro 6, but Microsoft might be saving the majority of its hardware and innovations for products that will be unleashed in the near and distant horizons.

88.1% Microsoft Surface Pro 7 Review: An i7 Upgrade with Extra GPU Performance | Notebookcheck
The Surface Pro 7 features the best of what Microsoft has to offer. However, the Core i7 CPU might not be worth its price premium under all circumstances. In this particular case more CPU power also means more GPU power.

The Surface Pro 7 is ideal for those in the Windows ecosystem who need a device that is both powerful and mobile. But I am not sure you should look at this option if the portability is not something you really want. But the way Microsoft has made this, usability and convenience is not really an issue.

Microsoft:

Microsoft smartphones and tablets have been tested since 2012. There are many reviews with average ratings. The reader's interest is quite given, but the market share is not big enough for the Top 5 smartphone manufacturers (as of 2016).

Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.

Intel HD Graphics 615: Integrated graphics card in some Kaby Lake Y-series processors (4.5 Watt TDP) with 24 EUs (GT2) and no dedicated graphics memory. Clocks with Update to 1050 MHz depending on the CPU Model.
