These two devices trade blows, with strengths in different areas. If I can recommend only one to you, and operating systems or proprietary apps aren't a concern, I give the edge to the Apple iPad Pro. Both are expensive, but Microsoft's Surface Pro for Business pricing, even more than the standard Surface Pro, pushes it well beyond the iPad Pro (at least without a commercial-purchase discount). The iPad Pro delivers a sleek, mobile-friendly tablet experience with plenty of power, arguably more so than the Surface Pro.

Microsoft’s latest Surface Pro tablet for businesses is another top-tier work product from the brand, though it appears even more tailored toward a specific professional audience than before. Surface Pro tablets used to push hard on power, but Microsoft has since left that role to its Surface Laptop line, putting the Pro into an interesting position. The Surface Pro is an expertly designed tablet for mobile professionals, but not those who require substantial CPU or GPU oomph—even for creative tasks. Instead, the Pro fits best with pros who work in public- or client-facing roles: Think high-end point-of-sale systems, real-estate agents, and sales or business development roles.

The 12th-Edition Surface Pro for Business succeeds as a premium tablet in its own right, with a rich array of business-centric features that add up to a premium package. It's a well-engineered device with a nice display, and the 5G makes for a sustainable connectivity solution that shouldn't be overlooked, albeit one best suited for the enterprise user. Of course, it comes with a price tag to match its premium build, starting at $1,949 for the lowest-tier configuration and only going up from there, with the detachable keyboard and charger sold separately.
