Microsoft first took a chance with an ARM SoC for Windows devices back in 2021 with the launch of the Surface RT. Five years after shifting to Intel chips in 2014 with the Surface 3, the company again equipped a Surface 2-in-1, the Surface Pro X, with an ARM SoC in the form of the Microsoft SQ1. With the latest Surface Pro 11, Microsoft has adopted a two-tone approach, offering the 2-in-1 with the Snapdragon X Plus/Elite and Intel Lunar Lake options.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 11 with the Snapdragon X SoCs launched last year with up to an OLED display and a Snapdragon X Elite X1E-80-100 chip. However, the higher-end model of the Surface Pro 11 with an OLED display can get prohibitively expensive, making it a tough sell for a majority of users. This is especially true when you pair the tablet with a Surface Pro keyboard and Slim Pen.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 11 on sale is a high-end model. It features a Snapdragon X Elite X1E-80-100 SoC, 16 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage, and a 13-inch PixelSense OLED display. The low storage is a bummer, but it is replaceable. So, you can increase it easily with an M.2 2230 drive.
Other notable specs include Wi-Fi 7/BT 5.4, two USB 4,0 ports, a 12.2 MP/10.5 MP front/rear camera combo, and a rather large 53 Wh battery.
Microsoft Surface Pro 11 is a good everyday tablet with long runtimes
The Microsoft Surface Pro 11 is a pretty good Windows tablet that can be converted into a proper work machine when bundled with the Surface Pro keyboard. The key qualities of the tablet include the 13-inch OLED display, fast performance, and excellent battery life.
Our measurements show that the Samsung-made 13-inch PixelSense touch-sensitive OLED display delivers rich, accurate colors alongside a max SDR brightness of close to 600 nits. The display is also pretty smooth as it refreshes at 120 Hz.
Driving the Microsoft Surface Pro 11’s panel is the Snapdragon X Elite with its Adreno iGPU. Thanks to 12 cores and a dual-core boost clock of 4 GHz, the Microsoft Surface Pro 11 delivers fast performance in both synthetic tests and everyday use. Unfortunately, compatibility issues still plague specialized applications like games. So, while you can play titles like GTA 5 and The Witcher 3 at high FPS, the Surface Pro 11 is not a suitable machine for gaming.
Finally, the power efficiency of the Snapdragon X Elite and the 53 Wh battery grants the Surface Pro 11 long runtimes. We measured more than 11 hours in our Wi-Fi websurfing test.
In short, the Microsoft Surface Pro 11 is a solid 2-in-1 Windows tablet that has some really nice things going for it. So, now would be the perfect time to buy the machine if you were holding out for a big discount.
