It seems that GameMT is about to launch another new budget gaming handheld. Recently, the company presented the E3 Vigor and E5 Ultra, as well as a more unusual E3 series option with a physical cartridge slot for Game Boy Advance games. Now, it has a handheld with the same chipset that underpins affordable smartphones like the Redmi 15C and the Poco C85 (curr. $125 on Amazon).
Specifically, GameMT is working towards releasing a MediaTek Helio G81-based handheld called the EX5. Equipped with two ARM Cortex-A75 and six Cortex-A55 CPU cores, the Helio G85 also provides the EX5 with a Mali-G52 MP2 GPU shared across many budget handheld SoCs. Apparently, GameMT has complemented this chipset with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, as well as a microSD card reader for expandable storage purposes.
Moreover, the GameMT EX5 features a 5-inch IPS display that resolves at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. A relatively high resolution for a budget gaming handheld, this 1080p display may hinder the EX5 in some more demanding emulation tasks because of its relatively low-powered 12 nm chipset.
A release date remains unknown for now. However, other elements like an Android build and a strange button instead of a right-hand joystick. By the looks of things, this toggle is there to switch between performance modes. Overall, the EX5 looks like GameMT's attempt at recreating the PS Vita for the most part.
