Following an announcement in September, Nintendo has now begun accepting pre-orders for the resurrected Virtual Boy accessory. The accessory is a replica of the original Virtual Boy released in 1995. Described as one of Nintendo's mishaps, Nintendo has brought it back for the Switch and Switch 2 handhelds.
The Virtual Boy is priced at $99.99 and can only be purchased by those who have a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. Owners will also need an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion pack membership to play any of the classic games compatible with the device. The Virtual Boy comes with a stand, attachments for the Switch and Switch 2, eye shade, and lens cover.
Nintendo is also accepting orders for the Virtual Boy (Cardboard model) which is significantly more affordable at $24.99. Like the regular Virtual Boy, it will also be released on February 17, 2026.
To use either of the Virtual Boy models, all you have to do is insert your Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 (available on Amazon for $499) into the model (Nintendo Switch Lite not supported) and play a supported game using Joy-Con or Joy-Con 2 controllers.
