The rumours were true, Anbernic is preparing to launch a newer alternative to the RG406V backed by more powerful alternatives. To recap, the RG406V arrived just over a year ago with the same Unisoc T820 as the RG Cube and RG556 (curr. $199 on Amazon) that launched a few months earlier.
A year later and Anbernic was recently rumoured to be preparing the RG477V with many of the same features as the recent RG477M. For the time being, Anbernic has not revealed any hardware details yet. Instead, the company has confirmed that the RG477V exists and that it will be coming in at least two colour options.
Nonetheless, some information can be gleaned from the video above. For example, the RG477V features active cooling, likely a small turbo fan if the RG406V is anything to go by. Therefore, the device likely contains a relatively powerful chipset, at least as retro gaming handhelds go. If recent rumours are accurate, this will be a Dimensity 8300 produced by MediaTek with 8 CPU cores and an ARM Mali-G615 MP6 GPU at its disposal.
In-line shoulder buttons are visible, as are Anbernic's usual set of gamepad buttons, including dual joysticks. Also, the RG477V has relatively narrow side bezels, which align with suggestions that Anbernic has adopted the same 4.7-inch panel found in the RG477M, with its 960p resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. Currently, the RG477V is rumoured to start at around CNY 1,599 (~$225) in China with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
