Anbernic is gradually revealing more details about the RG477V as we approach the Christmas period. At this stage, it remains unclear when the device will be orderable. However, it seems unlikely at this stage that RG477V units will begin shipping before the start of 2026 even if pre-orders open later this month.
In the meantime, Anbernic has confirmed all core RG477V specifications. Shared at the end of a new teaser video, the hardware included mirrors that are already found in the recent RG477M (curr. $299 on Amazon). For instance, the RG477V combines a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 chipset with a 4.7-inch IPS display. Also, this display outputs at 1,280 x 960 pixels with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 500 nits peak brightness.
While 120 Hz is beyond many retro games, the refresh rate allows the use of Black Frame Insertion (BFI) to reduce motion blur while maintaining a 60 Hz gaming experience. Moreover, the RG477V features a 5,500 mAh battery that can be recharged at 27 W, as well as a microSD card reader that handles up to 2 TB cards.
Elsewhere, Anbernic has included dual Hall effect joysticks and a modem that delivers Bluetooth 5.3 and WiFi 6E connectivity. The RG477V will be available in two colour options with 8 GB RAM/128 GB storage or 12 GB RAM/256 GB storage configurations. All variants will ship running Android 14 without a commitment to offer Android 15, Android 16 or newer major OS updates further down the line. Please see the video above for more details.
