Anbernic has now fully showcased its next gaming handheld after unveiling it at the start of the month. While the company's initial video lasted only 31 seconds, its latest video covers the RG477V in detail across almost 7:30 minutes of new footage.
Embedded below, the video reiterates that Anbernic will sell the RG477V in two colours initially, just like the RG477M before it (curr. $299 on Amazon). For the time being, Anbernic is remaining coy about the chipset that underpins its new handheld. However, showcasing God of War II and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater running at a 4x resolution indicates that it has returned to the Dimensity 8300 found in the RG477M rather than the lesser Unisoc T820 used inside the RG Slide. The same is the case for GameCube and Wii emulation at a 3x resolution, which is beyond the capabilities of the Unisoc T820.
Although the exact chipset is still a mystery officially, Anbernic has now confirmed a few other RG477V technical specifications. For example, the device lines up with a 4.7-inch LTPS IPS display, which helps provide a relatively bezel-free viewing experience. Additionally, the display outputs at up to 500 nits with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a 1,200:1 contrast ratio and a 1,280 x 960-pixel resolution, all exact matches for the panel inside the RG477M.
Elsewhere, the RG477V features Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity. Incidentally, Anbernic remarks that the former transforms the device 'into a home console' by enabling simultaneous connection with multiple Bluetooth controllers. Added to that, the RG477V can connect to external monitors and Smart TVs at up to 1080p via its USB Type-C port thanks to DisplayPort Alt Mode support.
