The retro gaming handheld space had a fantastic year with lots of great options at different price points. One of the highlights of the year is the Mangmi Air X, the first handheld from an unknown brand. Now, Mangmi is ready to build upon that success with another handheld.
Mangmi has released a teaser for a new handheld called the Pocket Max. The announcement includes a teaser image that shows the silhouette of the handheld, which appears to be larger than the Air X. The image shows the Mangmi Pocket Max has asymmetrical thumbsticks and action buttons with an Xbox layout. There are also some buttons in the top right corner, which we believe to be the volume and power buttons.
While no technical details have been provided, Mangmi's announcement hints at the Pocket Max boasting better performance than the Air X. It also says that the handheld isn't built only for gaming.
There are speculations that the handheld will have a Snapdragon 865 processor, and while that is an old but capable chipset, the price will also be a major factor. Maybe it will even be cheaper than the Retroid Pocket 5 which officially sells for $199 but retails for $233.10 on Amazon.
We expect more details of the Mangmi Pocket Max will surface as its release draws closer.
