Retailers have been really pushing Asus' latest entry-level gaming laptops as of late. Unlike most other OEMs, Asus is one of the very few to offer laptops equipped with both AMD and Nvidia hardware in contrast to the usual Intel and Nvidia. The result is more attractive starting prices without impacting the overall gaming experience.
The latest Asus model on sale is the 15.6-inch TUF FX505DD sporting a Ryzen 5 3550H CPU and GeForce GTX 1050 GPU for only $550. Laptops with the equivalent Intel Core i5-8300H CPU launched with the same GPU last year for $900 and up which makes this particular Asus deal that much more appealing for budget gamers. The GTX 1050 is powerful enough for 1080p gaming on low to low-medium settings.
Users willing to spend a little more for more performance can opt for the 15.6-inch TUF FX505DT SKU with Ryzen 7 3750H and GeForce GTX 1650 graphics which is also on sale at Walmart. The GTX 1650 offers 50 percent and 130 percent faster performance than the GTX 1050 in DX11 and DX12 titles, respectively, for about $150 more. It's definitely worth considering if you want a gaming laptop with longer legs than the aging GTX 1050.
