Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 Duo is likely to be just as good as the Oppo Find N6 (pictured here) when it comes to crease control.
Based on industry reports, two leakers recently commented on how different the two new Galaxy Z Fold 8 foldables will be compared to their predecessor. Even though the specs might look quite similar on paper, changes in the hinge will make folding and unfolding feel very different this time around. Also crease control should be impressive.

If you compare the specs of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 duo that have been revealed so far with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (available here on Amazon US) there doesn't seem to be much innovation on the horizon for foldable fans. But this notion could be quite misleading, as two leakers are currently pointing out. One is Ice Universe, who is considered quite reliable; the other source is a report on the South Korean Naver forum based on information from supply chain insiders.

Both emphasize that the day-to-day handling of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series will change significantly compared to its predecessor, specifically regarding how the foldable opens and closes. While the Yeux1122 blog in South Korea specifically refers to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Ice suggests that the change affects both new Samsung foldables. According to the blog report, the hinge has been modified in such a way that the foldable phone is easier to open and close compared to previous generations.

Ice Universe describes it somewhat differently, but it seems clear that the folding mechanism has changed significantly compared to the past. It remains to be seen whether this change will be positive across the board or if it will have negative consequences in everyday use. Ice suggests, for example, that it will no longer be as easy to hold the Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Ultra) steady at certain angles. The major advantage of the new hinge design will likely be the so-called "crease control" which is the extent of the visible and noticeable dent at the display’s fold line. According to the leaker, the Galaxy Z Fold8 will be comparable to the excellent performance of the Oppo Find N6 in this regard and will show a crease that is barely noticeable. However, there could still be differences between the two Galaxy Z Fold8 models: According to earlier reports the UTG density of the iPhone Ultra’s competitor is higher than that of the Ultra form factor, which is also likely to affect the crease.
