Galaxy Z Flip 8 may finally overcome its worst limitation

For years, Samsung has, for some reason, limited the functionality of the cover display on its Galaxy Z Flip lineup. The smaller screen, which has grown in size over the years, has only allowed a few apps and a widget-based interface. This could finally change with the Galaxy Z Flip 8, if the recent leaks are accurate.
A major complaint that Galaxy Z Flip phone users have is that not everything runs on the cover display. Motorola and its Razr phones allow using the cover display just like the main unfolded display. Samsung, on the other hand, has widgets for supposedly quick access, but that limits some apps from running, and you have to unfold the phone to use those apps. The information from known leaker Lanzuk over on the Naver blog suggests the cover display of the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be just as usable as the main display.
“Applied a method that allows continuous use of internal and external screens, similar to the Z Fold. (*Uses internal and external screens in the same way, not via widgets),” said the leaker. If this turns out to be accurate, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will become much more useful than previous Flip phones. Those who were avoiding the foldable due to limited functionality of the cover display will finally be able to pull the trigger.
While the future of Samsung's Flip phones remains uncertain, the next Unpacked event is scheduled for July 22, so we don't have to wait long to get official information on the new foldables.
