Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra Review
In the smartphone world, the term “Ultra” raises the very highest expectations, especially when it comes to photography. But can the new Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra live up to this promise? We take a closer look at the Samsung phone's 200-MP camera and zoom shots and compare them with those from the Oppo Find X9 Ultra.

Samsung’s new top-of-the-line foldable flagship impresses in our review with its extremely thin design and premium feel. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra has also finally received an upgrade in terms of battery life and can now keep up with the competition thanks to its long runtime and fast-charging technology.

But what about the camera system on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra (with prices starting at around $2,000 at Amazon.com)? In this comparison, we take a close look at the photographic performance of Samsung’s premium foldable and pit it directly against Oppo’s current camera king, the Find X9 Ultra.

We’ll focus on the main camera’s performance in everyday use and at night, as well as the quality and sharpness of the optical zoom. Can the foldable Ultra model keep up with Oppo’s uncompromising camera powerhouse?

Our test photos of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra show where Samsung’s new premium foldable shines. Both the 200-MP main camera and the telephoto camera offer realistic color reproduction and good sharpness in daylight. Although the photos appear slightly oversharpened compared with those from the Oppo flagship, the subjects are always in focus, whereas the Find X9 Ultra often renders contours very softly. In backlit conditions, however, the Fold8 Ultra really shines.

However, low-light performance is a clear weakness of Samsung’s flagship phone. In a direct comparison with the Oppo Find X9 Ultra, the smaller sensors are noticeable. In low light, the Fold8 Ultra’s telephoto lens is overwhelmed, and even the 200-MP main camera begins to show pronounced blurring relatively early as conditions get darker.
