iPhone Duo does have a visible crease, despite Apple's clever nano-texture surface

Ever since the day rumours regarding Apple's upcoming foldable smartphone started circulating, a major talking point was how well Apple would manage to conceal the device's display crease. Now that Apple's first foldable, the iPhone Duo, is finally here, we have a much better idea of the same.

In hand-on videos emerging from Apple Park, the iPhone Duo's crease is quite clearly visible from certain angles. Needless to say, real-life usage will definitely have its impact, making the crease more visible as the device accumulates more fold cycles.

Most importantly, when looked at head-on, the crease is almost completely invisible to the naked eye. In fact, the crease visibility appears to be ever-so-slightly superior to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 (curr. $1,649 on Amazon) launched a few weeks ago. Like the iPhone Duo, the Fold8 also features a titanium plate at the bottom of the display assembly, designed to alleviate stress and 'flatten' out the crease.

Technically speaking, it is almost impossible to 'completely' do away with the crease, as it is a physical part undergoing repeated fold-unfold cycles. However, Apple has undoubtedly managed to minimise the crease to a great extent, especially by opting for a matte surface for its inner display which, unsurprisingly, reflects much less light, making the crease less visible. A scratch-resistant coating for the nano-texture surface is also present.
