New foldable iPhone stars in last-minute report ahead of Apple event

Apple is gearing up to release its first foldable phone, and while previous leaks have suggested that it would be called the iPhone Fold or Ultra, a new report says otherwise. As reported by Bloomberg Analyst Mark Gurman, the device is set to be called the iPhone Duo.

Of course, this isn't the first time this name for the foldable iPhone has emerged. Back on September 4, 2026, an analysis from X user @TailosiveTech suggested that the company would name it the iPhone Duo, and while there was no solid evidence to back it up, the user suggested it was simply because Apple likes three-letter suffixes.

In addition to the possible name for the iPhone foldable, Mark Gurman has hinted at the price that the phone may start at. Per the latest report, the base configuration will go for anywhere between $2,000 and $2,199, and Apple might offer it with 256GB of storage.

The top-end configuration is expected to come with 2TB of storage, and it may end up retailing for $3,000. As previous reports have pointed out, the device will come with Apple's C2 modem, and it will be powered by the Apple A20 Pro SoC, which is also expected to be inside the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max.

Speaking of which, the iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to be more expensive than their predecessors. At the "Surprise and Shine" event, Apple is also expected to unveil the Watch Series 12, Watch Ultra 4, and AirPods 5. The event will go live at 10 AM PT or 1 PM ET.
