iPhone 18 Pro: 400% more expensive memory expected to force Apple to raise prices
The Apple iPhone 18 Pro (Max) and the iPhone Ultra are expected to be officially unveiled on September 9. Analysts at TrendForce have already analyzed the projected production costs in advance to estimate the prices of the next-generation flagship smartphones as accurately as possible.
According to TrendForce, the iPhone 18 Pro will feature several exciting upgrades, ranging from the Apple A20 Pro ARM chip with a more powerful cooling system to a main camera with a variable aperture and a larger battery. However, since the launch of the iPhone 17 Pro ($1,170 on Amazon), Apple’s memory costs are said to have risen by 400 percent, so according to TrendForce, it would be inevitable that even the price of the 256 GB base model would increase by 10 to 20 percent. This would mean the cheapest version of the iPhone 18 Pro would cost between $1,209 and $1,319.
Even at the upper end of this price range, Apple would have to accept lower profit margins, according to TrendForce, and absorb part of the higher production costs itself. The iPhone Ultra is expected to cost between $2,099 and $2,299, with the top-of-the-line model, which is expected to have 2 TB of storage, even hitting the market for over $3,000.
Analysts at TrendForce have once again summarized the expected specifications of the next-generation iPhones in the table embedded below, thereby lending credit to earlier rumors. According to the report, both the iPhone 18 Pro (Max) and the iPhone Ultra are expected to feature an Apple A20 Pro, 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB to 2 TB of flash storage, a 120 Hz LTPO AMOLED display, a 24 MP selfie camera, a 48 MP main camera, and a 48 MP ultra-wide-angle camera. The foldable phone reportedly does not include the 48 MP telephoto camera.
