Xiaomi’s new midrange smartphone with 10,000 mAh battery now available in more markets

Following the Europe launch last month, Xiaomi has now officially launched the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max in India. However, the Indian variant is slightly different than the EU variant. Speaking more precisely, the former has a bigger battery capacity that the latter. As for price, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G starts at ₹49,999 (~$521) for the base 8 GB + 256 GB model. It will be available starting 17th September via Xiaomi’s official website and other authorized retailers.
Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset, which is said to offer 21% better performance than the last-gen processor. It packs up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage with no room for storage expansion. The Indian variant packs a massive 10,000 mAh silicon carbon battery that supports 100 W wired (Anker 100 W charger curr. at $29.99 on Amazon) and 27 W reverse wired charging.
Other than that, there’s no difference between EU and India units. The device sports a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel that outputs at 2772 x 1280 pixel resolution with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. There’s Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on top, which protects the device from accidental scratches and falls.
For photography, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max has a dual real camera setup, consisting of a 50 MP main camera and an 8 MP ultrawide lens. Upfront, you get a 32 MP snapper for selfies and video chats. The rest of the highlights include an in-display fingerprint sensor, dual speakers with Dolby Atmos, IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K ratings, and WiFi 6. Software-wise, it runs Android 16-based HyperOS 3 out of the box, and the company promises four major Android OS upgrades (Android 17, 18, 19, and 20) and six years of security patches until 2032.
Alongside, the company has also announced the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G in India. The smartphone starts at ₹36,999 (~$385). We already covered the device separately; you can read about it here.
