Oppo launches new midrange smartphone with 200 MP camera and 6,700 mAh battery

Oppo has unveiled the new Reno 16t smartphone in China, joining the vanilla Reno 16 and the Reno 16 Pro in the brand’s roster. Like its siblings, the Reno 16t also comes with a compact form factor, measuring 8.36 mm (0.33 inches) in thickness and weighing around 191 grams (6.74 ounces). With the 6.3-inch AMOLED display, the new smartphone is similar in size to the Samsung Galaxy S26 (curr. at $899.99 on Amazon). 

The flexible AMOLED display outputs at 2640 x 1216 resolution with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,800 nits. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 Super chipset paired with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. 

As for lenses, you get a 200 MP OIS-enabled main camera complemented by a 50 MP ultrawide camera and a 50 MP telephoto sensor with OIS. Upfront, there’s a 50 MP snapper with autofocus for selfies and video chats. A 6,700 mAh battery powers the entire unit and supports 80 W wired charging. Unfortunately, there’s no wireless charging support here. 

Other features include an in-display optical fingerprint sensor, WiFi 6, Bluetooth, NFC, IP68/IP69K water and dust resistance, and a dedicated AI Plus Key. The Reno 16t starts at CNY 3,699 (~$550) for the base 12 GB + 256 GB model, while the 16 GB + 512 GB model is priced at CNY 4,499 (~$670). Available in purple, black, and heartbeat colorways, buyers can now purchase the smartphone in China via Oppo’s online store.
