Xiaomi has just launched the Redmi 17C 5G smartphone in India. The company’s new budget smartphone boasts a 120 Hz display, a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, a 50 MP main camera, and a large 6,000 mAh battery with 33 W wired charging. Plus, buyers can choose from purple dawn, coffee brew, and dark night color options.

Following the Singapore launch in August, Xiaomi has now released its latest affordable Redmi 17C 5G smartphone in the Indian market. The smartphone joins the Redmi 17 (curr. at $239 on Amazon) in the brand's roaster, which was debuted with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor, 4 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of storage for the base variant. Despite their differences in processor and battery capacity, both devices share the same display specs.

Speaking more precisely, the Redmi 17C boasts a large 6.9-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and a peak brightness of 660 nits. The panel supports DC dimming and covers 83% coverage of the NTSC color gamut. You get a 50 MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture. The main lens is complemented by a basic auxiliary lens. Upfront, there is an 8 MP snapper for selfies and video chats.

Under the hood, the device is powered by a 6 nm-based MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor paired with up to 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 GB of internal storage with room for storage expansion up to 1 TB. Software-wise, it boots Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 out of the box. However, there’s no word on its software support from the brand. A 6,000 mAh battery powers the entire unit and supports 33 W wired charging. Interestingly, the device also supports 10 W reverse-wired charging. Xiaomi says the battery can maintain at least 80% of its original capacity after 1,000 charge cycles.

Moreover, it measures 7.9 mm (0.31 inches) in thickness and weighs around 211 grams (7.44 ounces). Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, IP64 splash and dust resistance, and Google’s AI tools such as Circle to Search, Gemini Live, and more.

As for price, the Xiaomi Redmi 17C starts at ₹20,999 (~$218) for the base 4 GB + 128 GB model, while the 6 GB + 128 GB model costs ₹22,999 (~$239). Buyers can choose from purple dawn, dark night, and coffee brew (finished in textured leather) colorways. It will be available for purchase starting 7th October via Xiaomi India’s official website and Amazon.
