Motorola Razr wide foldable specs leak, Galaxy Z Fold8 and iPhone Duo have stiff competition coming

We already know Motorola is working on a wide foldable to compete with the Galaxy Z Fold8 and the iPhone Duo. The company shared a quick teaser during the iPhone Duo launch earlier this month, but a new report has now shed light on some of the specifications.

Internally, the wide foldable is being called ‘razr flex’ with the codename ‘Parker.’ That’s according to Android Headlines, which also claims that it will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. This is the same chip that powers the Motorola Razr Fold, and it’s relatively older at this point, but still very capable.

The wide Razr foldable is said to come with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of non-expandable storage. That will likely be the base model, with a higher storage variant in the lineup as well. The outer display is reportedly going to be 4.97 inches with a 1,736x1,140 pixel resolution. The larger inner display will be 6.92 inches with a 1,728x2,364 pixel resolution. It will be an OLED with a 165 Hz refresh rate and support for HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision.

At this size, the Motorola Razr wide foldable will be smaller and lower resolution than both the Galaxy Z Fold8 ($1,850 on Amazon) and the iPhone Duo. The former comes with a 5.5-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch inner display, while the latter features a 5.4-inch cover and 7.6-inch inner display.

Despite the smaller size, the Motorola offering is said to beat the competition in terms of battery. It will carry a 5,000 mAh dual-cell battery with 25W Qi2 charging supported. It will also be IP48 and IP49 certified, have Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and a physical SIM card slot. A 50 MP main camera with 30x digital zoom and a 50 MP ultrawide shooter will be present on the back of the Motorola Razr wide foldable.

In terms of design, the power button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner will be located on the right side, with a dedicated AI button placed somewhere else. It is said to measure 110x149x5.8 mm when unfolded and 110x76x12.6 mm when folded, with a weight of 215 grams. This puts it a bit over the Galaxy Z Fold8’s 201-gram body but still quite lighter than the iPhone Duo’s 254 grams.

Motorola’s first wide foldable is said to arrive at the end of the year in Pantone Coriander and Pantone Dark Botanical Garden colors.
