The silence surrounding The Duskbloods has concerned some Switch 2 owners. The closed network test on August 21st will allow players to experience gameplay for the first time. A new leak hints that preview embargoes could expire on August 20th, offering hands-on impressions.

Despite emerging in April 2025, FromSoftware’s upcoming exclusive Switch 2 game remains a mystery. A network test for The Duskbloods will begin on August 21st, which may finally address unanswered questions. However, a new leak suggests that gamers could see hands-on previews posted on August 20th.

Redditor PhantomBraved noticed an unexpected addition to the schedule of Game Two. The German gaming show listed a The Duskbloods preview video for August 20th, then deleted the entry. While it may have been an error, based on the studio’s history, there is reason for optimism.

Hints from Elden Ring releases

In 2021, articles appeared just before FromSoftware launched a network test for Elden Ring. With the 2025 Nightreign, impressions from sites became available by the time its playtest started. If the same pattern repeats, more revealing coverage of the online PvPvE Switch 2 game could soon surface.

Another possibility is that the studio will wait until Gamescom 2026 on August 26th to lift embargos. Nintendo did not include The Duskbloods on its itinerary for the showcase, but that doesn’t rule out surprises. One Reddit poster also reminded fans that the event takes place in Germany, the home of Game Two.

Unless in the network test, gamers will have to rely on the press for media. FromSoftware has stipulated that participants can’t share screenshots and videos recorded on the handheld. Of course, leaks are likely to flood social media nonetheless.

Is a delay still possible?

Kadokawa recently alleviated some fears about a potential The Duskbloods release date delay. The majority owner of the Elden Ring maker still has the multiplayer title slated for a 2026 debut. Nevertheless, with limited gameplay footage available, buyers remain skeptical.

When previews eventually arrive, they may explain more about how the 8-player PvPvE matches work. Whether combatants create unique characters or choose from a set roster is also unclear. Other followers anticipate a progression system being unveiled to boost replay value.
