The Duskbloods delayed to 2027, as expected, avoiding the GTA 6 takeover

The Duskbloods was one of the games that was showcased soon after the Nintendo Switch 2 was announced. It was supposed to be a Switch 2 exclusive, and FromSoftware had been working on releasing the game this year, in line with its original release window. However, the studio has now decided to take some more time and push the release to next year.
The official FromSoftware Japan account posted on X that they need more time for “final adjustments to the game rules and balance” and are therefore pushing the release to 2027. They did not share a concrete release date or even a release window.
Most comments are quite supportive of this decision. They don’t seem to mind waiting longer for the game, with the belief that when it does finally release, it will be as polished as it’s supposed to be. Some don’t seem surprised at all. That’s because fans were somewhat expecting this update since the game was absent from the September Nintendo Direct. Furthermore, the playtest in August had some server and performance issues as well. That feedback is what made FromSoftware realize they need to put in more time and effort into The Duskbloods before pushing it out.
Could GTA 6 be a factor?
With no release date for 2026 and only two months left in the year, if The Duskbloods were to release this year, it would have been either November or December. That’s when GTA 6 is expected to take over the gaming community. It is unlikely that GTA 6’s November 19 release had anything to do with the delay, but there could be a possibility that it was a small contributing factor. Those who game on the Switch 2 exclusively wouldn’t have been distracted, but those who have multiple consoles would likely focus more on GTA 6 rather than The Duskbloods.
