Star Wars Zero Company Steam player count tops best games in franchise with latest surge

Ahead of the Star Wars Zero Company release date, critics questioned its mainstream appeal. The most popular Star Wars games typically embrace the cinematic action-adventure genre. However, the turn-based tactical strategy experience has won over skeptics. Its daily peak concurrent Steam player count bests even Jedi: Survivor.

The EA and Bit Reactor project benefited from a strong debut on Valve’s marketplace. During its August 27th launch, SteamDB shows that it peaked at 69,046 players and has maintained that momentum. The XCOM-inspired offering has now topped that number, with 73,462 gamers leading their squads into battle.

Contending with heavyweights

Compared with previous entries based on the franchise, the Star Wars Zero Company Steam performance looks more impressive. In 2023, Respawn’s big-budget single-player spectacle Jedi Survivor reached a high of 67,855 players. Its predecessor, Jedi: Fallen Order, posted a total of 46,550 in 2019.

Star Wars Battlefront II caters to a massive crowd of shooter fans, but lags behind Zero Company. It proved resilient by setting a new Steam player count record in 2025, 7 years after launch. Nevertheless, the 35,892 peak for the multiplayer option ranks below other Star Wars games.

The only contender Bit Reactor is chasing is LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Its 82,517 peak remains the benchmark for any game influenced by the celebrated movies.

Patches could improve Steam reviews

Even with a warm release date reception, Star Wars Zero Company Steam reviews have noted some shortcomings. Mixed ratings rebounded to mostly positive despite performance issues frustrating buyers. Frame-rate dips are a problem on PC and consoles, including the PS5 Pro. Occasional crashes can also disrupt the most organized battle plans.

Tactical strategy games may target a smaller audience, but XCOM is an exception. Zero Company still has work to do to catch XCOM 2, which boasted a peak Steam player count of 133,022 in 2016. Followers of the series appreciate the familiar mechanics in the latest release. Meanwhile, newcomers find its learning curve slightly more forgiving.
