Ubisoft Paris reveals Rainbow Six Tactics at Gamescom 2026. Command 15 Siege operators in single-player, turn-based battles, launching in 2027 on PS5, Xbox, and PC.

Ubisoft unveiled Rainbow Six Tactics during Gamescom 2026's Opening Night Live, a single-player spin-off launching in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The game trades Siege's first-person shooting for turn-based, squad-level tactics in the vein of XCOM.

A new commander for Team Rainbow

Ubisoft Paris developed Rainbow Six Tactics with a team that includes veterans of Mario + Rabbids and Ghost Recon. Players step into the role of Six, commanding squads of up to four operators drawn from a 15-strong roster of familiar Siege characters. The story runs alongside Siege's ongoing timeline, with a new global threat pushing Team Rainbow to operate on a larger scale across missions, including hostage rescues, bomb disposal, and target eliminations.

XCOM-inspired tactics with Siege's destruction

Combat plays out on handcrafted maps, of which Ubisoft has confirmed more than 45 at launch. Before each mission takes place, players gather intelligence and assign operators based on their abilities and gadgets. In the field, turn-based encounters let squads break down walls, clear cover, and open new sightlines as objectives change. The signature addition is Breach Planning, which lets players queue up coordinated actions across their squad and unleash them as a single synchronized assault, echoing Siege's simultaneous breach moments in a slower, more deliberate format.

Base management and no microtransactions

Between deployments, players return to Rainbow HQ to train operators, manage recovery, and strengthen the team ahead of the next mission. Ubisoft has confirmed Rainbow Six Tactics will ship as a complete single-player package with no in-game store or live-service elements, a notable contrast to some of the publisher's recent premium releases. Wishlisting is open now ahead of the 2027 launch on all platforms.
