Popular post-apocalyptic survival game now free to play on PS5 and Xbox

Once Human, a post-apocalyptic third-person open world multiplayer survival game from NetEase Games and Starry Studio, has officially made the jump from PC and mobile to consoles. Set in a post-apocalyptic world affected by the mysterious Stardust substance, the game combines exploration, resource gathering, construction, combat and encounters with supernatural anomalies.
The console rollout is more than a straightforward port: it introduces a first-person perspective that can be switched with the existing third-person view, alongside full cross-play and cross-progression, allowing players on console, PC and mobile to play together and continue their progress across supported platforms. At launch, console players have access to multiple scenarios and more than 300 hours of content. PS5 players also receive DualSense-specific features, while Xbox Game Pass members can claim additional in-game benefits.
Once Human is free to play on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S, with no PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass Core subscription required to access the game itself. Reception so far appears favourable, with a 4.07-out-of-5-star rating already logged on the PS Store. The developers say paid purchases are limited to cosmetics, Battle Passes and other content that does not affect gameplay or fairness. PlayStation Plus members can claim a limited-time gift pack, while the game is available across North America, South America, Europe, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
