Imperiums: Greek Wars is 76 percent off on Steam through September 8.
In Imperiums: Greek Wars, players fight for supremacy in ancient Greece. Around 30 factions, complex diplomacy and an in-depth economy provide plenty of strategic possibilities. The 4X strategy game is currently 76% off on Steam and, at €7.19, is cheaper than ever before.

Conquer Athens, strike an alliance with Sparta or stand up to Persia: Imperiums: Greek Wars throws players straight into the power struggles of ancient Greece while offering plenty of freedom. There are around 30 factions to choose from – ranging from powerful empires such as Macedonia and Persia to smaller city-states and tribal societies. Unlike in Civilization, however, players don't start from scratch. Large parts of the world are already settled, meaning existing power structures, rivalries and alliances play a role right from the start.

In terms of gameplay, Imperiums: Greek Wars combines classic 4X mechanics with historical grand strategy. Simply marching across the map with the largest army possible isn't enough, however. Economy, diplomacy, trade and warfare are closely interconnected. Troops need supplies and morale, while prolonged military campaigns can quickly drain the state treasury. Those who aren't too concerned about strict historical accuracy can also enable elements of Greek mythology and, for example, set out in search of the Golden Fleece. More information on the gameplay can be found in our previous article on the game.

German YouTuber ZapZockt came to a largely positive conclusion in his review, awarding the game 78 out of 100 points. He particularly praised its extensive strategic scope, in-depth diplomacy and well-designed economic system. The lack of genuine innovation, rather basic graphics and occasionally unnecessarily complex UI were less convincing, however. On Steam, Imperiums: Greek Wars has an 85% positive rating from more than 540 user reviews. Its Steam Deck compatibility is rated “Playable.”

76% off on Steam for the first time

Imperiums: Greek Wars normally costs $29.99 on Steam. Until September 8, however, the strategy game is available at a 76% discount for $7.19. According to SteamDB, that makes it cheaper than ever before. The difference compared with the previous best price is fairly small, though: In July, the game was already discounted by 75%. The current discount is therefore only one percentage point higher. For strategy fans with a soft spot for ancient Greece, however, it may still be well worth jumping in at this price.
