Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2 launches August 27

Konami Digital Entertainment has officially confirmed that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 will launch globally on August 27, 2026. Releasing simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, the compilation builds on 2023's initial release. The package marks the first time Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has been ported away from PlayStation 3 hardware since its 2008 debut. The fourth mainline installment headlines the compilation alongside Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and retro bonus title Metal Gear: Ghost Babel.

Metal Gear Solid 4 returns alongside online Peace Walker co-op

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots serves as the headline release for Volume 2, concluding the story of Solid Snake and Liquid Ocelot. The collection includes the complete single-player narrative along with the standalone Metal Gear Solid 4 Database application, an interactive encyclopedia detailing the franchise's lore, character backgrounds, and timeline. Joining MGS4 is Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, built from its HD Collection version. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker restores online cooperative gameplay for up to six players across extra operations and boss fights, though it does not support cross-platform network play. Both games will also be sold individually as standalone digital downloads.

Pre-order incentives, digital archives, and save-data bonuses

Beyond core software, Master Collection Vol. 2 packages a comprehensive digital archive for series fans. Each primary title features a dedicated Screenplay Book containing complete script dialog, alongside a Master Book breaking down character histories, lore connections, and gameplay secrets. Digital editions also pack Metal Gear Solid: Digital Soundtrack Vol. 2, featuring background tracks and vocal scores. 

Players who pre-order receive early access to the "Cardboard Camouflage" uniform for MGS4 and the "Love Cardboard" uniform for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Additionally, players holding existing save data from Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 on their system earn bonus in-game reward items across both titles upon launch.
