Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter demo now live

Nihon Falcom and GungHo Online Entertainment America have launched a free demo for Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Set right after the first chapter, it puts players back in control of Estelle Bright as she hunts for Joshua and runs into the Enforcers of Ouroboros.

It offers an early look at the opening acts of her journey across the Kingdom of Liberl ahead of the full game's worldwide release on September 17, 2026. The Switch version of the demo is also playable on Switch 2 through backward compatibility.

Ten hours of content and save transfers

The demo offers roughly 10 hours of story content, covering the prologue "A Young Girl's Decision" through the end of Chapter 1 "A Looming Shadow." Players can revisit familiar Liberl locations, including Rolent, Ruan, and Grancel, complete senior bracer training at Le Locle Canyon, and battle early Ouroboros Enforcers. There is no time limit, so players can explore side content at their own pace. Story progress, character levels, and inventory earned in the demo all carry over to the full game at launch through the title screen's load or transfer options. Players who import completed clear data from Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter into the demo also unlock Classic Style SC costumes for Estelle and Joshua, based on their outfits from the original Trails in the Sky SC.

Expanded battle mechanics

Building on the first remake's combat, 2nd Chapter introduces the linked Brave Rush attack for quick battles, alongside new crafts, expanded S-Crafts, and updated elemental orbment setups. The demo also brings back side activities such as fishing, poker, and cooking that carry into the full game. The Steam version already includes AMD FSR 2.2 upscaling, though early Steam Deck testing shows performance in the 40 to 50 FPS range on the default Medium preset rather than a locked 60 FPS.
