Gamers had hoped that an Ever Crisis livestream would feature an announcement for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3. In 2024, Game Director Motomu Toriyama hinted that the second anniversary of the mobile title would be the time for an update. Unfortunately, a release date remains a mystery. Tetsuya Nomura did comment on several upcoming Square Enix games, including Kingdom Hearts 4.
The creative force behind Ever Crisis acknowledged the Toriyama interview, which raised hopes for news. Translated by Genki, Nomura explained, “It is going very smoothly. The announcement timing has been decided and we will stick to that schedule, so please rest assured and wait.” According to another viewer, he also remarked that an Ever Crisis livestream wouldn’t be appropriate for major Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 news.
Nomura seemed to justify rumors that the remake was far along in development. Earlier reports indicated that its story was already written by the end of 2024. Gamers have also seen leaks of voice actors recording dialogue for potential characters.
Followers continue to wonder when they will learn the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 release date, or at least see a trailer. The publisher has shared its schedule for the Tokyo Game Show on September 25th. Sadly, the list leaves out any unannounced Square Enix games. However, there’s always a chance for a few surprises. Fans should also tune in to The Game Awards in December.
In development since 2019, Nomura also addressed Kingdom Hearts 4. Progress has been slow on the action RPG that features Disney characters. However, Nomura reassured followers, saying, “We are also making good strides for Kingdom Hearts 4 too!” For better or worse, the Square Enix game will transition to Unreal Engine 5 with a different art style, as shown in screenshots.
