Retroid Pocket 5 and Pocket Flip 2 get a price increase, but now ship with more RAM

Fresh off the launch of the Pocket Nova, Retroid is back with another announcement. Although, this time, they are not new devices, but refreshes of older models, specifically the Pocket 5 and Pocket Flip 2.
According to an announcement, the Retroid Pocket 5 and Retroid Pocket Flip 2 (available on Amazon for $269) will be available in a new configuration. Both devices originally launched in a single configuration with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, but starting on July 15, the Pocket 5 and Pocket Flip 2 will be available to buy in a 12GB RAM + 128GB storage configuration.
This new configuration will replace the 8GB RAM variant, which Retroid says is now out of stock, and therefore discontinued. The announcement adds that all unfulfilled orders for the two handhelds will be automatically upgraded to the 12GB RAM version, at no extra charge. In addition, all orders made prior to July 15 will receive the new 12GB RAM version.
The new RAM configuration comes with a price increase that will take effect on July 15. This means the Retroid Pocket 5 will cost $209 instead of $199; and for the Pocket Flip 2, the Snapdragon 865 version will increase to $219 from its current price of $209, while the Dimensity 1100 version will jump from $179 to $189.
Retroid seems to be trying its best to manage the RAM situation. Earlier this year, it was forced to discontinue the Retroid Pocket G2 just a few months after its release. However, it launched the older Pocket 5 in new colors borrowed from the Pocket G2. It also had to discontinue the 12GB RAM version of the Pocket 6, but brought it back last month, albeit with 128GB of storage and not the original 256GB of storage.
