Retroid discontinues its 5-month-old handheld; raises price of another

Weeks after announcing it was discontinuing the production of the 12GB RAM version of the Retroid Pocket 6, the manufacturer has made another distressing announcement.
In a post on its social media channels, Retroid has announced that it will temporarily discontinue the Pocket G2, a handheld that was announced in late October 2025 and began shipping the same month. Retroid says the decision stems from the “fluctuations in memory pricing”.
Following the announcement, the Retroid Pocket G2 is now listed as sold out on the manufacturer's website. However, third party resellers, on sites such as AliExpress, who still have the device in stock have significantly raised prices. The device, which originally costs $219, can be purchased from these retailers for as high as $260.
Interestingly, Retroid says that the older Retroid Pocket 5, which has nearly the same features as the Pocket G2, save for its processor, will remain available to buy. Thankfully, Retroid hasn't announced a price increase for the Pocket 5, so it will remain available to buy for $199. At the moment, the Retroid Pocket 5 is available to buy on Amazon for $209, 40% off its list price of $249. So now is a good time to purchase it.
Sadly, the bad news doesn't end there, as Retroid says it also has to raise the price of its vertical handheld, the Pocket Classic. The device, which currently sells for $129, will now cost $149 starting on Friday, 20th of March.
