New ROG Strix Scar 18: Asus teases 2026 gaming laptop that can 'fully stretch its legs like never before'

A new ROG Strix Scar 18 is on the horizon. For reference, Asus announced its 2025 edition at CES 2025 in January 2025. While the company confirmed pricing a month later, it was not until April that the 18-inch gaming laptop was available to order (curr. $2,699 on Amazon). Conversely, a new ROG Strix Scar 18 was nowhere to be seen at this year's CES.
Seemingly, that is because Intel has only just announced new Arrow Lake-HX Plus processors. Announced today, Asus has confirmed that the ROG Strix Scar 18 will be available with up to the Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor. Please see our launch article for more details about Intel's new flagship Arrow Lake processor.
Asus adds that the new Scar will push Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU harder than its 2025 predecessor could. For context, the 2025 edition delivers up to 175 W to its GPU, including 25 W Dynamic Boost. Currently, this is thought to be the GPU's maximum Total Graphics Power (TGP).
However, Asus claims that the 2026 edition 'boasts a much higher total system TDP than the 2025 model'. Pricing and availability remain unknown for the time being. Likewise, Asus has teased it will be announcing more hardware specifications 'in the coming months' with a Q2 2026 release. In the meantime, the company has announced new ROG Strix 16 and ROG Strix 18 gaming laptops.
