Monstrous Alienware 18 Area-51 gaming laptop becomes more powerful with new Intel Arrow Lake-HX Refresh

Dell initially revealed the Alienware 18 Area-51 gaming laptop at CES 2026. Being Dell’s most powerful gaming laptop, the Alienware 18 Area-51 uses up to an RTX 5090 laptop GPU and Core Ultra 200HX Arrow Lake mobile CPUs. Dell has now refreshed the Alienware 18 Area-51 with new Intel CPUs.
Starting today, you can buy the Alienware 18 Area-51 gaming laptop with the new Arrow Lake-HX Refresh CPUs. Users have the option to choose between:
- Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX
- Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX
- Intel Core Ultra 7 270HX
- Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX
Everything else about the laptop, including GPU, storage, and RAM options, remains unchanged from the CES 2026 announcement. So, be sure to check out our CES 2026 coverage.
As a small recap, the Alienware 18 Area-51 can be equipped with up to an RTX 5090 GPU with 64 GB of dual-channel DDR5-6400 memory and 12 TB of NVMe storage configured in RAID0. The RTX 5070 Ti and higher configurations of the laptop are cooled by a larger vapor-chamber cooling solution.
Unfortunately, unlike the newly refreshed 16-inch Alienware gaming laptops, the Alienware 18 Area-51 is still left with a 1600p IPS panel. However, the 18-inch panel itself is more than capable for all your gaming needs. It covers 100% DCI-P3, boasts 500 nits of brightness, features a speedy 3 ms response time, and a super-fast 300 Hz refresh rate. Nvidia G-Sync and Advanced Optimus are also present to ensure tear-free gameplay and smooth graphics switching.
Finally, the Alienware 18 Area-51 features plenty of ports, including two Thunderbolt 5 connectors, Intel Wi-Fi 7/BT 5.4, and up to a CherryMX ultra low-profile mechanical keyboard with AlienFX per-key RGB backlighting.
