Retroid launching new AYN Thor rival with dual displays in 2026

Retroid released the Pocket Nova at the end of June. Equipped with an IoT version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the Retroid Pocket Nova also contains a 120 Hz AMOLED display. Even so, the handheld starts at $229.
The Pocket Nova has not started shipping yet. Nonetheless, Retroid has already hinted at what it has up its sleeve. Potentially, the device in question could be a new clamshell handheld that will replace the existing Pocket Flip 2, too (curr. $269 on Amazon).
As the screenshot below shows, an official Retroid account indicated that it had at least one new handheld in development with a targeted release during the second half of 2026. Not only that, but the company hints that this device will feature dual displays, which has been the subject of rumours for a while now.
Consequently, it seems that Retroid hopes to challenge AYN Technologies and its popular AYN Thor handheld. The design and other features of this handheld remain unknown for the time being. However, we would expect the so-called Pocket Flip 3 to feature more powerful chipsets than the Dimensity 1100 and Snapdragon 865 afforded to the current Pocket Flip 2.
