Anbernic rolls out new features to five handhelds, including the RG Slide

Anbernic has been rolling out updates that bring new features that improve the user experience to several of its handhelds. Despite updating more than a dozen devices already, it isn't done yet, as it has announced a new software update for five devices. Four of these handhelds were released in 2024, save for the RG Slide (available on Amazon for $174.48) which launched in 2025.
Unlike some of its previous updates that need to be manually downloaded, the new update arrives as an OTA update, and it brings a handful of new features that are collectively called the RG ecosystem. The RG ecosystem includes the new RG Home launcher which merges the Android interface with a gaming UI, and allows users to easily switch between interfaces. It also has support for navigation using the physical controls and the touch display, allows users to hide and lock apps, and supports folder creation.
The update also brings the new RG Control Center that puts important settings such as performance controls, fan speed, connectivity settings, and RGB settings within reach. Users will be able to access these settings with a simple swipe from the right side of the screen.
The RG Slide also gets an additional feature that allows users to modify the standby states, depending on whether the handheld is open or closed. Last but not least is the new RG Button Mapping feature which lets users create and save custom controls for touch-based games. Users will be able to switch between control profiles within a game.
Below is the list of devices getting the update as well as the system version number for the new update:
