Anbernic has uploaded a new video to its YouTube channel that shows its upcoming RG 55G1 handheld. The video shows real life units, and not product renderings of the device.

While its rivals Ayaneo and Retroid have announced new handhelds this week in the form of the Pocket Micro 2 and Pocket Nova respectively, Anbernic seems not to be in a rush to release the new device it showed off about a week ago. Instead, it has released a hands-on video that shows real life units of the handheld.

Anbernic gave us our first look at the RG 55G1 about a week ago, and that announcement came along with a video showing product renderings. On the other hand, this new video, which was uploaded on YouTube, shows the real device.

The video confirms that the Anbenic RG 55G1 will be available in three colors — a Retro Grey version with colored ABXY buttons, an Indigo color option, and a Black variant. The video confirms the Switch Lite-like handheld will have 2.5D glass covering the entire front, while the rest of the body is made of plastic.

Anbernic says the handheld features dual-injection molded buttons, and from the video, the action buttons have a Switch layout while the D-pad is placed on top of the left joystick. Like the Nintendo Switch Lite (available on Amazon for $229), the Anbernic RG 55G1 has its power and volume control buttons on the top left side, while its microSD card slot, the off-centered USB-C port, and audio jack are at the bottom side

The RG 55G1 has a flat back, save for the triggers that stick out. Our guess is that Anbernic will sell an optional grip case for better ergonomics. The video also shows the handheld in use, and we get a glimpse of the Hall Effect thumbsticks and their RGB ring lights in action.

The Anbernic RG 55G1 looks pretty good, but its specifications and price, which are still unknown, will determine if it isn't just a looker, but also a capable handheld game console.
