After launching two horizontal handhelds, Mangmi has announced that its first product launch for 2026 will be the Air Y series. The new series will arrive as its first vertical handhelds and will be available in standard and pro models.

In 2025, Mangmi came onto the handheld gaming scene with the launch of the budget Air X, and then followed it up with the larger and more expensive, Pocket Max (read our review) months later. Both devices have a horizontal form factor, like several rival devices.

While some of its competitors have announced new products, Mangmi has been silent, save for a few software updates for its two devices. Now, it is ready to kick things off with the launch of new devices, and unlike its other handhelds, these are vertical handhelds.

According to an announcement on its social media channels, the new handhelds will arrive as the Air Y series and will include two models which will be sold as the Mangmi Air Y and Mangmi Air Y Pro. The announcement comes with a few details and a first look.

Mangmi's Air Y series will include a standard version and a pro model.

The Mangmi Air Y will be available in Black with a cross D-pad, ABXY buttons in the Nintendo layout, and a single joystick with an RGB ring that sits below the D-pad. It also has a speaker grille below the ABXY buttons. On the left side of the Air Y is an orange button, which we believe is the power button; a scroll wheel, and a black button whose function is unknown.

The Air Y Pro, on the other hand, has a similar design but comes in white. The display seems to be the same size, but since their specs are unknown, we don't know if they have the same resolution. Its control layout is similar to that of the Air Y, but instead of black buttons, they are burgundy like those on the Retro color variant of the Air X (curr. available on Amazon for $145.99). It also has two symmetrical thumbsticks with RGB ring lights. There's no speaker grille on the front, but like the Air Y, it has two buttons and a scroll wheel on the left side.

Mangmi says both handhelds will ship with Android and be powered by Qualcomm processors, but it's keeping the exact processor(s) a secret. Thankfully, we won't have to wait for long as Retro Dodo reports that Mangmi disclosed to them that the specs, price, and release date for the Air Y series will be announced later this month. It has also been revealed that pre-orders may begin on July 30.

The Mangmi Air Y and Air Y Pro will be facing stiff competition with rivals such as the similar looking TrimUI Brick Pro and the upcoming Ayaneo Konkr Pocket Block.
