MagicX shows early designs of new vertical handheld with dual thumbsticks

MagicX has been working on a new handheld called the Mini Dream, which will feature a custom made OLED panel. Now, a new announcement from the manufacturer has revealed it plans to make a vertical handheld that will use the same OLED display and will launch as the MagicX Pocket Dream.

According to MagicX, the Pocket Dream is going to be a vertical handheld that serves as an alternative to the horizontal Mini Dream. Development is still in the early stages, and as MagicX is known to do, it has shared early designs of the upcoming device.

The first set of renders provided by the manufacturer show the handheld will have two thumbsticks that will be placed above the D-pad and action buttons, just like the Retroid Pocket Flip 2 (available on Amazon for $269).

However, after feedback from fans, MagicX went back to the drawing board and implemented some of the suggestions it received. It has now shared a new design that shows the thumbsticks sitting below the D-pad and action buttons, just like those of the Mangmi Air Y Pro.

Based on the details provided so far, the MagicX Pocket Dream will have a 3.3-inch OLED display with a 1024 × 768 resolution. This screen will sit inside a body that measures 107 × 72 × 22 mm. Like the Mini Dream, it will be available in four processor variants alongside Linux and Android versions. It was not stated if it will use the same processors as the Mini Dream, but MagicX confirmed it will be available in Android and Linux versions.

There's no info yet on the timeline for the release of the Pocket Dream. However, since the Mini Dream has already been under development for a while now, it is expected to arrive first, while the Pocket Dream follows later.
