Deal | Amazon slashes prices of three Retroid Pocket handhelds

A few days ago, Retroid announced a perrmanent price cut for a few of its handhelds, ahead of their discontinuation. While the new prices have been live on its website since the announcement, its Amazon storefront has just discounted the same devices, but not by the same amounts.

The discounted devices are the Pocket Classic vertical handheld, the Pocket Flip 2 clamshell handheld, and the Pocket 5 horizontal handheld. The Retroid Pocket Classic is available to buy now for $145 on Amazon, 19% off its $179 list price; and the available colors are PKM Yellow, Retro, and Classic 6. In contrast, the handheld is available for $99 on Retroid's website, although that price doesn't include shipping costs.

The Retroid Pocket Flip 2, which used to sell for $269 is now down to $229 on Amazon. However, this is the 8GB RAM version with a Snapdragon 865 processor. On the other hand, Retroid sells the 12GB RAM version with a Snapdragon 865 processor for $189 on its website, while the Dimensity 1100 version with 8GB of RAM is now $149. Whichever one you choose, you are better off buying the Pocket Flip 2 from Retroid's website.

Last but definitely not the least is the Retroid Pocket 5. Following the price cut, the handheld can be purchased for $179 on Retroid's website, and that price gets you the 12GB RAM version that was released in July. However, the Retroid storefront on Amazon has the Pocket 5 with 8GB of RAM for $219, 12% off its $249 list price. It is available in 16Bit, GC, and Black as well as Turquoise and Yellow, two additional colors that were released in April.

It's plain to see that purchasing the handhelds on Retroid's website is the sensible decision, as you are not only getting them for less, but also getting more RAM in the case of the Pocket Flip 2 and Pocket 5.
