Anbernic RG DS Plus now available for purchase with a limited time discount

Nearly two weeks after giving us a first look at its new dual-screen handheld, Anbernic has finally begun selling the device. The new Anbernic RG DS Plus arrives as a larger Linux variant to the RG DS that was released in 2025, and for a limited time, buyers will be able to buy it at a discounted price.

The Anbernic RG DS Plus has a starting price of $94.99 for the base configuration which includes a 16GB SD card that contains the system files. It goes up to $109.99 when you choose to buy it along with a 64GB microSD card, and tops out at $124.99 with a 128GB microSD card. This second microSD card can be put inside the second SD card slot for your games and files.

Anbernic is offering buyers a $10 discount until 3 AM PDT on September 18. This means you can buy the RG DS Plus for $84.99, $99.99, or $114.99, depending on the storage option you choose. The RG DS Plus is available in Matte Black, Coral Pink, and Metallic Blue.

Whichever option you choose, you get a clamshell handheld with dual 4.3-inch IPS displays with a 1024 × 768 resolution. The bottom screen has support for multi-touch and also has stylus support, and unlike Retroid's dual-screen handhelds that don't come with an integrated stylus, the RG DS Plus has a capacitive one stowed away on the right side.

The RG DS Plus is powered by the Rockchip RK3568 processor and it is paired with 1GB of RAM. It has stereo speakers, a 4000mAh battery capacity, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 4.2, an audio jack, a microphone, and a USB-C port. There's a single joystick on the left and it sits below the D-pad. The hinge can be adjusted between 15° to 180°, and there's a magnet that shuts the handheld when it is less than 15°

The Anbernic RG DS Plus also has a Hall Effect sensor, for automatic wake and sleep when you open or close it. When playing games, players can swap content between displays or even turn either screen off for single-screen games. While the handheld comes with a proprietary emulator called NNDDSS for playing retro games, it can also be used to stream games from a PC. It also has support for online multiplayer via Netplay.
