Retroid shares more Pocket Duo details alongside surprise reveal of the Pocket Duo Lite
Retroid has been releasing details of its dual-screen handheld, the Pocket Duo, in bits. However, its latest announcement not only includes new details of the Pocket Duo, but of a second model that will launch as the Pocket Duo Lite.
According to Retroid, the Pocket Duo will offer “flagship performance and exceptional efficiency”, while the Pocket Duo Lite is targeted at “entry-level dual-screen users who want just the right performance at an affordable price”. Nevertheless, Here's how the two handhelds differ:
Retroid Pocket Duo
The Pocket Duo will have a 5.5-inch OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 16:9 aspect ratio for the top display while the bottom display is a 4.5-inch OLED panel that also refreshes at 120Hz but has a 4:3 aspect ratio. As revealed previously, it will be powered by the Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-7790 which is an IoT version of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. Retroid is yet to reveal the RAM and storage configurations.
The Pocket Duo will have a 180° free-stop hinge, stacked shoulder buttons, symmetrical and recessed thumbsticks, ABXY buttons with a tactile click, and a cooling fan. It will ship with Android 16 and pack a 6,000mAh battery. When it launches, it will be available in three solid colors — Black, GC, and 16Bit — and two transparent colors — Ice Blue and Clear Purple.
Retroid Pocket Duo Lite
On the other hand, the Pocket Duo Lite will also have a 5.5-inch 16:9 display, but an LCD panel with a 60Hz refresh rate. The 4.2-inch 4:3 bottom display is smaller than that of the Pocket Duo, and like the top display, it is also an LCD panel with a 60Hz refresh rate.
Retroid will ship it with the Qualcomm Dragonwing QCS6125 processor, which was released in 2021 and is used in IoT devices. Based on its specs, which include Kryo 260 CPU cores, an Adreno 610 GPU, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.0, it seems to be the IoT version of the Snapdragon 665 (SM6125) released in 2019. The Pocket Duo Lite will ship with Android 15 out of the box.
The handheld also has a free-stop hinge, recessed and symmetrical thumbsticks, a 6,000mAh battery capacity, and in-line shoulder buttons. It will be available in the same five colors as the Pocket Duo.
Retroid is yet to reveal pricing and availability for the Pocket Duo and Pocket Duo Lite.
