Lenovo launches new 14-inch laptop globally with over 19 hours battery life
Lenovo has expanded its budget line of laptops with a new 14-inch model. In the last few weeks, the company has released the V14 Gen 7, V15 Gen 7 and V17 Gen 7 internationally with Intel Wildcat Lake processors. At the same time, it started selling the V15 Gen 6 with AMD Mendocino processors after launching it globally earlier this month.
Now, Lenovo has unveiled a smaller alternative to the V15 Gen 6 with the same processors. For the time being, it has only added the V14 Gen 6 AMN to its PSREF website. Nonetheless, the website confirms that a global release is coming, including multiple regional models intended for sale in the US.
The V14 Gen 6 AMN will start in some markets with the Athlon Silver 10, a dual-core processor with just two threads at its disposal. However, some countries, including the US, will only receive Ryzen 3 30 or Ryzen 5 40 variants with 4 Zen 2 CPU cores and 8 threads.
Unfortunately, our benchmarks show that these processors will provide the V14 Gen 6 AMN with less performance than older models (curr. $699 on Amazon). Moreover, Lenovo will limit the V14 Gen 6 AMN to 8 GB of soldered LPDDR5-5500 RAM in the US. By contrast, 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM will be sold elsewhere.
Setting that aside, all SKUs feature a 47 Wh battery that Lenovo claims lasts over 19 hours in JEITA-BAT 3.0 at 200 nits. Also, the V14 Gen 6 AMN weighs 1.32 kg and measures 324.2 x 215.2 x 19.9 mm with a plastic housing. The 14-inch laptop also comes with a 1080p, 300-nit and 60 Hz display in all cases. However, Lenovo defaults to a TN panel, with an IPS panel set to be offered as an alternative. Pricing and availability remain unknown for now.
