The Framework Laptop 13 Pro is the company's most powerful notebook. The machine can be had with either Windows or Ubuntu out of the box. Framework has revealed that most people who choose Ubuntu for the Laptop 13 Pro tend to stick to the OS.

Framework unveiled the Laptop 13 Pro back in April, five years after launching the Framework Laptop 13. This long wait was well worth it, as the improvements were immense. From the display and chassis to the battery life, the Framework Laptop 13 Pro proved to be a stellar machine in our review. We rated the Laptop 13 Pro a “very good” 88%.

Aside from the repairable and supremely customizable nature of Framework laptops, many users love Framework notebooks because of the company’s stance towards Linux. For instance, the newly launched Framework Laptop 12 gives you the option to choose between Fedora Linux and Windows when you buy a pre-built machine.

The Fedora-based Framework Laptop 12 is $100 cheaper than the Windows version. The Framework Laptop with the Intel Core 3 304, 8 GB RAM, and 512 GB of storage costs $699 with Fedora and $799 with Windows 11. This presents a nifty way for Windows users to save some money by choosing the Linux verison of the Laptop 12 and installing Windows on the laptop later.

However, this rarely seems to happen according to Framework.

Framework reveals on X that, based on the company’s consumer surveys, most people who choose the Framework Laptop 13 Pro with Ubuntu either keep Ubuntu or switch to a different Linux distro. Since most consumers pre-ordering the new Framework Laptop 12 are choosing the Fedora version over Windows, we can assume that the stats for the Framework Laptop 13 Pro will translate well to the Framework Laptop 12 too.

Framework is now accepting pre-orders for the next batch of Framework Laptop 13 Pro units. The notebooks will start shipping in November.
