Verdict — Tough Competitors In the Sub $1000 Category
LG Gram laptops are typically very lightweight and with sharp and colorful displays. The Gram Book 15 strips these redeeming features for a duller chassis design and one of the worst IPS displays seemingly taken from the early 2010s. Contrast ratio is poor and colors are shallow for an average viewing experience at best. Meanwhile, competing budget laptops like the Asus VivoBook S15 or Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5-15 can offer 120 Hz OLED displays or at least full sRGB colors in the case of the latter.
Beyond the disappointing display, other core aspects like the weak design, shallow keys, and weak speakers make the model a subpar multimedia or content creation machine.
Some positives include the long battery life and very quiet fan thanks to the Core U-series CPU while RAM and SSD upgrades are relatively straightforward. Otherwise, the Gram Book 15 doesn't offer anything compelling over other budget to midrange offerings from Lenovo, Dell, or Asus.
Pros
Cons
Price and Availability
The LG Gram 15 as reviewed can be found online for $800. It is not available on Amazon.
The LG Gram series is best known for being home to some of the lightest laptops in the market with equally impressive displays. The Gram Book is a category within the Gram series designed for budget-conscious buyers and lower-specced models. The Gram Book 15 in review is one of the few 15.6-inch 16:9 laptops in the market equipped with Intel Arrow Lake-U processors.
Our test unit comes equipped with the Core Ultra 7 255U CPU, 16 GB of removable RAM, and a 1080p IPS display for approximately $800. Alternatives to the Gram Book 15 include other budget multimedia laptops like the HP Pavilion series, Asus VivoBook series, or the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 series.

Specifications
Case
The chassis is largely matte plastic from top to bottom to reflect its budget price point. Flexing and creaking are present but thankfully minor and not a cause for concern. Be prepared to clean the laptop every so often as its smooth surfaces readily attract grease and fingerprints.
Connectivity
Port options are essentially identical to the 2025 HP Envy x360 15 but without official Thunderbolt support. Unfortunately, charging must be done via the left edge as there are no USB-C ports along the right edge.
Communication
Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 are not supported to save on costs.

Maintenance
Sustainability
The manufacturer makes no mention of recycled materials during the production process.
Accessories And Warranty
There are no extras in the box other than the AC adapter and paperwork. The usual one-year limited manufacturer warranty applies if purchased in the US.
Input Devices
Key travel is noticeably shallower than the keys on a traditional ThinkPad T series or even most budget laptops like the Asus VivoBook. Feedback when pressing Space, Enter, or the numpad keys in particular is consequently weak and not very satisfying.
Display
The IPS display is as basic as it gets with its 60 Hz refresh rate and sub sRGB colors. It is unfortunately nowhere near as crisp or vibrant as the displays on most other Gram laptops by noticeable margins to be unfit for serious content creation purposes.

The display is poorly calibrated out of the box as to be expected from a budget laptop. Calibrating with our X-Rite colorimeter would significantly improve average grayscale and color DeltaE values from 5.2 and 6.78 to just 0.8 and 2.73, respectively.

GPU Performance
The 4-core integrated GPU performs similarly to the three-generation old Iris Xe 96 EUs, but it is roughly 30 percent slower in the Gram Book 15 according to 3DMark benchmarks. The deficit can be attributed to the single-channel RAM configuration of our test unit and so it is highly recommended to configure with dual-channel memory to maximize graphics performance.

Fan noise is some of the quietest we've experienced on any 15-inch laptop powered by a U-series CPU. The fan would remain under 30 dB(A) even when running games on High Performance mode compared to over 40 dB(A) on most other laptops.

Temperature
Surface temperature hot spots can become much warmer on the bottom cover than the keyboard deck by as much as 9 C as shown by the temperature maps below. Average temperature is nonetheless noticeably cooler than what we recorded on the 2023 LG Gram SuperSlim.
(+) The maximum temperature on the upper side is 35.4 °C / 96 F, compared to the average of 36.9 °C / 98 F, ranging from 21 to 71 °C for the class Multimedia.
(±) The bottom heats up to a maximum of 43.4 °C / 110 F, compared to the average of 39.1 °C / 102 F
(+) In idle usage, the average temperature for the upper side is 20.2 °C / 68 F, compared to the device average of 31.3 °C / 88 F.
(+) The palmrests and touchpad are cooler than skin temperature with a maximum of 23.6 °C / 74.5 F and are therefore cool to the touch.
(+) The average temperature of the palmrest area of similar devices was 28.7 °C / 83.7 F (+5.1 °C / 9.2 F).

Stress Test
The CPU would boost to 3.4 GHz and 42 W when initiating Prime95 stress before hitting 82 C just a few moments later. It would then stabilize at 1.6 GHz, 76 C, and 23 W thereafter as shown by the screenshots below to signify poor Turbo Boost sustainability.
Core temperature would hover around the low 70 C range when running demanding loads like games which is significantly cooler than what we observed on last year's HP Envy x360 15.
| Average CPU Clock (GHz) | GPU Clock (MHz) | Average CPU Temperature (°C) | |
| System Idle | -- | 500 - 800 | 40 |

Power Consumption
The Core Ultra 7 255U may not be the fastest, but it is definitely efficient. Our system would almost consistently demand less power than the Raptor Lake-P LG Gram SuperSlim while providing nearly the same or better performance.
The 65 W USB-C AC adapter is compact at just 9 x 5 x 2.8 cm.
