LG Gram Book 15 has one of the worst IPS displays in the series

The Gram Book 15 may be the least expensive Gram model in the series, but the display leaves a lot to be desired even at the $800 price point.

Unlike the typical LG Gram laptop, the LG Gram Book is a lower-end model designed for users on tighter budgets. It cuts several corners in order to meet the attractive price point of $800 USD, but the cuts are deep enough to negatively impact the user experience especially in regards to the display. If you plan on running video or editing images often, then you'll probably want to avoid the Gram Book 15.

As shown by the comparison table below, the IPS display on the Gram Book 15 is inferior to the displays on most other budget multimedia laptops. Native refresh is limited to just 60 Hz, black-white response times are relatively slow for more noticeable ghosting, contrast is very poor at under 500:1, backlight bleeding is noticeable on our test unit, and colors are shallow even to the untrained eye. While we don't expect the budget-grade Gram Book 15 to carry the same high quality panels as found on the Gram 15, an attractive display would have helped distinguish the Gram Book 15 from competitors in the sub $1000 range.

Beyond the display, the budget LG model is long-lasting and very quiet all thanks to its efficient Core U-series CPU as detailed in our review. Nonetheless, alternatives like the Asus VivoBook S15 or Lenovo IdeaPad 5 series tend to carry superior displays for a similar price range.
